Introduction of a Weekly Prayer Meeting

I would like to propose the start of a new prayer group at

St. Mary Church in Hillsborough on Fridays from 6:30

to 8:00 p.m., starting January 19. Alan and Nancy Bessette

and I have been practicing praise and worship songs from

the book used for the 11 a.m. Sunday Mass at St. Theresa

in Henniker. We would want this experience to be a

welcoming one to all who are drawn to prayer. There would

be a time for being formed into disciples and time to enter

into deeper prayer.

My hope would be the development of a Pastoral Team

to guide the growth of this ministry of prayer. But actually

praying would allow us to enter more deeply into the mind

of God. We want to do what God wants. The plan would

be to sing songs of praise, and a song of worship, praying

in tongues, spontaneous acclamations, and singing in the

Spirit, during the first half hour. This would be followed by

a period of quiet, and welcoming words of prophecy, which

would remind us of God's love for every one of us, and

challenges to be obedient to God's commands. A brief

interactive teaching would follow. I would be happy to offer

the first two presentations. The last half hour would involve

intercessory prayer, with a closing song.

Charismatic prayer takes many forms. Before we

proceed to the formation of a Leadership Team to serve

both parishes, and begin new ministries, we want to wrap

our parishes and our local communities, including New

England College, in prayer. I welcome your feedback and

we take these times to surrender ourselves more fully to

God.

Second Collection—December 10th Retirement Fund for Religious

Help religious communities. “Your generous contribution helps us to care for our retired sisters

and enables our younger sisters to continue in active ministry,” writes a religious sister. Your gift to today’s collection for the Retirement Fund for

Religious helps provide medications, nursing care, and more for thousands of senior sisters, brothers,

and religious order priests. It also helps ensure younger members can continue the good works

of their elders!

This weekend we welcome, Sister Cynthia Laplante, a sister of the Presentation of Mary

Community. Sister Cynthia will be speaking on behalf of the annual Religious Retirement Appeal Campaign. Members of religious communities

served in schools and hospitals for most of their lives without pay or benefits. In the last 20 or so years, working sisters have been enrolled in the Social

Security and Medicare systems. This annual appeal helps those who helped us in so many ways.

We recently welcomed into our faith community

Dorie MacDonald Emerson Daughter of

Zach & Kimberly Emerson May God Bless them all!
