Team leaders Mrs Frith and Mrs Watson and their teams ensured that all children started each day with a full stomach by offering breakfast at school. They commenced each assessment with a "You Can Do It" atude and were reminded of the strategies that they can use. All students persisted under test condions and showed perseverance to complete the answers. Thank you to parents for ensuring a good night sleep, a good breakfast and a punctual, calm start to the morning. PR1ME Ms Galante who is leading the implementaon of PR1ME across the school is designing two fantasc parent workshops to explain the new way we are teaching maths. This is in response to parent feedback indicang that they aren't sure how to help support their child in this area. Elsewhere in this newsleer are the dates of the two sessions - two meslots to choose from to accommodate working parents and I'm posive that these sessions will give parents praccal strategies for supporng maths development at home. NEW P AND C COMMITTEE I would like to officially welcome Ms Jess Tonihi (President) and the newly elected Commiee members to the P and C for 2017. I invite all parents to get to know the purpose of the P and C and get involved in their acvies. Members of the Commiee are parents of children aending the school, or are interested in supporng the Challis children, and are volunteers. They always need help and oſten sparing just one hour every now and then provides incredible support for many of their acvies. For example, the Canteen is currently seeking volunteers. No experience is necessary, just some me and willingness to serve lots of lile people who are hungry and somemes indecisive (so paence probably should be a pre requisite skill). Anyone who has me and is interested in serving in the Canteen, please approach the Canteen ladies. BAKE STALL The Fundraising Commiee is holding a scrumpous Bake stall on Wednesday 14th June. More details to be sent home closer to the date but in the meanme you might like to start thinking about what delicious treats you can donate to the stall. All funds go towards the devel- opment of an Outdoor Retreat in the Year 6 area. YEAR 6 CAMP Parents are reminded that camp is drawing closer and payments can be made to the office on a weekly basis for your budgeng convenience. Aending camp is an important part of the Year 6 experience as it bonds children together in wider friendship groups, enables them to pracce their independence and problem solving skills, gives ample opportunies to try new physical skills, tests their resilience and develop relaonships with their teachers away from the school. Children who are not aending camp are required to aend school daily and will be placed in another classroom with work provided by their teacher. NATIONAL FAMILIES WEEK This week we are celebrang Naonal Families Week with an open invitaon to all families to bring in a picnic lunch tomorrow, Tuesday 16th June at 11am and enjoy spending an hour at school with your child. We will extend our lunch break for the day to enable a more leisurely lunch together. There will be a story reading in the Library at approximately 11:30am. We would love to see lots of families join in together on Tuesday. LADIES HIGH TEA Our Families Week celebraons connue on Tuesday aſter school with a very special Ladies High Tea for girls in years 4,5,6 and their Mums (or significant females). This is an occasion for the girls to change out of their school uniform and return to school in clothes suitable for a High Tea. Our wonderful staff, lead by Mrs Taylor and her commiee, have planned delicious treats for you to enjoy along with an array of acvies to complete with your daughter. CHALLIS ANGELS Our very own Angels have been moving through the school compleng tasks that help to lighten the workload of teachers. The Angels meet in the staffroom every Monday at 9am and help with tasks such as photocopying, cung out resources, cleaning out and organising the staffroom. The tasks are simple but me consuming for teachers and they would very much appreciate any help that parents can provide. You are welcome to come to the staffroom and join the Angels every Monday morning. AN IMPORTANT DATE FOR YOUR DIARY Friday 30th June is the last day for this term and is a School Development Day so children do not aend school on this day. The staff will all aend school and will connue their learning about how to improve their teaching. ASSEMBLY APOLOGIES My apologies to K4 and W5 for not being able to aend their spectacular assembly on Wednesday. THANK YOU MACKENZIE On the Easter weekend Mackenzie Greenway-

Thomson and her family all camped out in their

front yard. This was a technology free weekend

and all the community were invited to visit and join

them in lots of activities. In the evening they had a

campfire, cooking ‘extreme’ marshmallows. All

money raised from this event was for a purpose

very close to Mackenzie’s heart—Friendship

enches. Mackenzie wants to see friendship bench-

es at Challis to help students find their friends or if

they are lonely to sit there and someone could

come along and ask them to play.

Mackenzie and her family raised over ONE

THOUSAND DOLLARS!! What an achievement.

We are hoping to purchase three benches, one for

the Year One/Year Two area, one for the Year

three/Year Four area and one for the Year Five/Year

Six area.

Challis would like to thank our local music store, Classic Sounds

for the wonderful service they have continued to provide to the

school.

Music is an invaluable experience for children to immerse

themselves in whether it be through playing an instrument, singing, dancing or just listening.

Classic Sounds offers a full range of instruments, accessories, books and tuition as well as

provide you with professional advice to cater to your individual need. Further, they service and repair instruments on

site making them more than just a music store.

Next time you are looking for anything musical go down to your local Classic Sounds and tell them you are a Challis

student to receive a great discount. Mr Blanchard is loving learning how to play the drums at Classic Sound.
