CONGRATULATIONS to the staff and children…for
OUTSTANDING Mathematics results…we are thrilled
to be at the top of the network and up there in the state.
Keep up the fabulous work and keep that Mathletics up
as it really seems to be showing benefit. Keep on top of
the tables as well as this will speed up all your
mathematical operations. While we also have outstanding
results in students decoding in Reading, where we need
to work with even more is in the area of comprehension
and I urge parents to question children whenever possible
about what they are reading and understanding of the
text….even about films they are watching and signage in
the world around them. REMEMBER,
THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR IN YOUR
CHILD’S SUCCESS IS YOU.
Research shows clearly that what works best in education
is collaboration - you are the first teacher…we are the
second. Teachers at this school are ALWAYS willing to
set aside time to discuss your child’s wellbeing and
academic progress with you. Our staff are always busy,
but if you let them know, they will be most willing to
chat with you.
SWIMMING: congratulations to the children for their
excellent behaviour at swimming. They return to us
happy despite being tired.

SCHOOL CAPTAIN’S REPORT
Hi Coldstream, We’re back with another report. On Monday the 3 to 6s went to CERES. We learnt how paper is made and even made our own sheets of paper. After we had a short walk along the river, our class learned how to make a bag out of an old T-shirt. After having a great time at CERES and learning how to reuse and recycle, we all went to a park, ate our lunches and played around before heading back home.
Last week and this week some students are going to the Yarra Junction swimming pool for swimming lessons. The seniors are doing a project called Fortnaught, which aims to teach young people not to spend all their money on gaming and to be safe when you are gaming.

PARENT CLUB NEWS
The students seemed to enjoy their Hot Dog lunch last week. Thank you to the parents that gave their time to make that happen. This week we have our Sausage Sizzle. We would appreciate cake stall donations from the 1/2 class. All parents are welcome to help out from around 1pm. You should have received a flyer regarding our upcoming Colour Run to be held on the afternoon of Friday 29th Nov. This is an exciting fundraiser and we would love all kids to be able to participate. Sunday November 17th is our Bunnings Sausage Sizzle. Please consider offering an hour or 2 of your time. Notes will be sent home soon. Have a great week Emily

Step 1. Shred your paper and bark.

How to make a bag out of an old t-shirt You will need:
An old t-shirt, scissors.
1. Get a t-shirt and cut off the collar but don't throw it away (you will need it later). 2. Cut off the sleeves of your top (Leave space so you can hold on to them). 3. Turn it inside out then grab the bottom of the top and tie the collar around the bottom of it (We turned the top inside out so the stitches are on the inside and the print is on the outside). 4. Turn it back inside out and you have your bag.
If you want the knot on the outside don’t turn the top inside out when you tie the knot.

C.E.R.E.S.
At C.E.R.E.S. we learnt how to make a bag out of an old T-shirt.We had to cut the collar off and turn it into rope. We had to cut the sleeves off both sides. Grab the end of the T-shirt and tie it up with the rope, turn it inside
out to finish it. Shane
