a) Prepare a model of the activity to show your children before they start. Although

Spaghetti with tomato sauce is yellow and red, there is no ‘correct’ model. For example, the pasta may be orange and the meatballs may be blue or yellow.

b) Next, show them your model. Elicit the colours. Ask them to colour their picture in any colours they like.

d) Monitor the children as they are colouring and writing and ask them to tell you about their pictures.

e) Finally, ask the children to tell each other about their pictures.
