The Cost of Education Rises

A Pennsylvania real estate executive, Stephen J. Izzi founded America Realty Solutions and SJI Jackson Real Estate. Building success over the course of his career, Stephen J. Izzi established the FIL The Void Scholarship Program, which extends financial assistance to students pursuing higher education. The program, an avenue to give back to his community, was named in honor of family members, who played a significant role in shaping his life.

An estimated 21 million students enrolled and attended a stateside college or university in 2014. Approximately 13.7 million studied at a four-year institution while the remainder earned their education at a two-year institution.

During the 2012-2013 academic year, the cost of an undergraduate education at a public institution averaged $15,022. Private nonprofit institutions and private for-profit institutions stood at $39,173 and $23,158, respectively. These fees represent the total cost of tuition, room, and board.

Today, the average cost of higher education has spiked, according to the College Board, which estimates the average cost of education during the 2014-2015 academic year at approximately $23,410 for an in-state public college and $46,272 for a private institution.
