This is a scientific paper focusing on on medieval history in the Balkans. It explains the origins and the creation of the myth and legend of Saint Demetrius of Thessalonica-Solun by the Eastern Roman Empire AKA Byzantium. It also clarifies that Demetrius was originally from Thessalonica-Solun and of Macedonian origin, but was martyred in Sirmium (today Sremska Mitrovica).
