The Creative Living Room’s Spanish for Kids “Cantemos Juntos” at SRS Cantemos Juntos Methodology: Through songs, games, movement and an environment full of love and acceptance, your child discovers that learning a second language is great fun. Elizabeth Bromley, creator of Cantemos Juntos, has created a program combining Dr James Asher’s Total Physical Response Methodology, Richard Graham’s Genki English Techniques and others, to encourage children to speak and write in Spanish from day one. With an emphasis on communication, the methodology includes teaching commonly used interrogatives, and targeted everyday vocabulary as answers. Each child receives music CDs and weekly vocabulary booklets, which have been created by Elizabeth to reinforce the vocabulary taught during each class. The child also receives a list of the weekly themes, a vocabulary sheet, and fun homework handouts to continue the learning at home. During her 12 years in Costa Rica, she co-founded the Language Institute, COMUNICARE, was elected director of The Costa Rican Association for Adults with Depression and co-founded a center for Group Psychology called Mundo Interno. She has a Masters in Group Clinical Psychology and is trained in Parent Effectiveness Training. She has led workshops, therapy groups, classes and support groups to both children and adults, in English and in Spanish since 1994 both abroad and in Philadelphia. In 2005, Elizabeth rekindled her love of music and began writing songs in Spanish for children. Elizabeth is founder of Cantemos Juntos.

Mary McCabe is a fluent Spanish Speaker and a trained teacher of English to speakers of other languages. She has been assisting Elizabeth Bromley with her Cantemos Juntos classes at SRS during the 2010- 2011 school year. She is an SRS parent who resides in Swarthmore with her husband and four children. She is thrilled to share her love for Spanish with children in our Globetrotters program.
