A word from Pastor Joel… Dear Church, Have you ever felt that your prayer life was lacking? Do you want to grow in prayer and are not sure where to start? This summer at First Church, we are encouraging you to take part in the Forty Day Prayer Covenant. The Prayer Covenant is a simple, pre-written prayer that you pray each day for yourself and for another person. The prayer covers ten important topics, including grace, love, compassion, and repentance. The hope is that as you pray each day, you become more comfortable in prayer and develop your relationship with God. The goal of the Prayer Covenant is that two or more people decide to follow Jesus together. You make a commitment to pray this prayer for at least one other person for the rest of the summer. As with anything else, growing in prayer takes time and experience. The Prayer Covenant can be a tool that God uses to grow and mature you in your prayer life, and in your relationship with him as a whole. Imagine what God can do as you pray daily for yourself and another person! The Prayer Covenant is also a way for us to remain connected as a church throughout the busy summer. Weekends in the summer are often consumed with family vacations, camping trips, and sports camps. The Prayer Covenant is a way we can remain united together, even if we may not see each other every Sunday. As you pray for another person, you can also pray the Prayer Covenant for First Church and the New Knoxville community. Imagine what God can do when his children unite together in prayer! Each week, we will post reminders, scripture, and other encouragements on our Facebook page. Beginning the week of June 24, we will focus on each one of the ten themes in the Prayer Covenant. This schedule will bring us right up to the start of the Sunday School year. More information about the Prayer Covenant, including downloadable copies of the prayer, can be found on our website and www.prayercovenant.org. Join us as we commit to make 2018 a summer of prayer and seek the Lord together as one church! In Christ, Pastor Joel

New Knoxville Community Vacation Bible School 2018

Vacation Bible School was amazing this year! The kids were great and had such a fun week learning about their Savior. We raised a total of $1,868.93 and donated that money towards school uniforms for kids in Lima,

Opportunities to become more

Rooted & Grow in your Faith

The Bloodmobile will be at the American Legion in New

Knoxville on Tuesday, July 21st from Noon – 6:00 p.m.

Men's Bible Study is every Sunday morning at 8:00 am in the ministry center youth room.

The Gathering will meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Social Room during July and August. This small discus-sion group digs a little deeper into the previous Sunday’s scripture pas-sages and sermon message using Pastor Joel’s weekly questions.

Grand Adults Fellowship meets on Tuesdays at 2:00 pm in the ministry center youth room. You are invited to come and play cards or games and enjoy some friendship and food. Call Becky Huston at 419-753-2230 if you need to arrange for transportation.

The New Knoxville Historical Society will be open the fourth Sunday

of the month from June through October. Four buildings—the barn, the

doctor’s office, the summer kitchen and the log cabin—will be available

for touring. The house, however, is closed until further notice as it is

cleaned and renovated following the malfunction of a dehumidifier in the

basement in May. Our goal is to have the house open for the annual Her-

itage Days in September, which will include chili and a band concert.

Mid-Year Pledge Card Reminder – Thank you to all who have turned in your 2018 pledge cards. If you have not done so, we encourage you to send your card or drop it off to the church office at your earliest conven-ience. Your pledge to the general fund supports the day to day operations that allow First Church to minister both within and outside its walls. Call Connie Schroer at 419-753-2446 if you have any questions.
