• There are lots of so called energy drinks on the market. Please beware – they can seriously damage your health.

• In the last few years in the UK, 5 teenagers have died as a direct cause of drinking too many ‘energy’ drinks.

• Ingredients in ‘energy’ drinks include -:

• Taurine.• Taurine is an amino acid that your

body naturally produces. It helps regulate heartbeat, muscle contractions, and energy levels. Usually your body makes enough that you don’t need to supplement.

• Sugars.• A tin of Monster Energy contains 54g

of sugar.• A tin of Red Bull (a smaller tin) has

28g.

• Doctors, dieticians and other experts say that a man in good health should only have a maximum of 37.5 grams of added sugar daily. This is 9 teaspoons worth.
