About us

“Daruieste Aripi” is a non-profit organisation, founded in 2013 by Alina Vasea, and meant to support those charitable projects that can bring real progress to the treatment of patients in the Romanian public medical system.

Active Volunteers: 36 The projects of „Dăruiește Aripi” are made possible because of our supporters’ contributions.

Our vision: ensuring the fundamental rights to health and living through spot-on interventions by fixing errors and compensating systemic deficiences. Our mission: specialised patient counselling, the reconstruction and refurbishing of medical units within Constanta Clinical County Emergency Hospital. Values: transparency of our actions, accountability, compassion and fairness.

Successfully Implemented Projects:

Focus Medical Treatment Center

- the first and only medical treatment center focused on the diagnosis, treatment,

monitoring and support of children with onco-haematologic and rheumatologic

conditions in south-eastern Romania

- The Center is located in the Ambulatory area of the Constanta County Clinical Emergency Hospital

- It is part of the Pediatric Ward of the Constanta County Clinical Emergency Hospital, as an onco –haematology and rheumatology department

The children are registered at the Oncologic Institute of Bucharest and were accompanied by 4 volunteers, one of them an onco-pediatric specialist.

hospitals in Constanta donated to Focus Medical Center

and Bucharest hospitals

Each year, ten children diagnosed with onco-

hematological diseases enjoy a new and exciting

experience at Disneyland, Paris.

„Their First Smile - Make it your gift!” Project

The reconstruction and modernization of the Neonatal Intensive Care and the Premature Infant Units of the Constanta County Clinical Emergency Hospital.

The completion of this project will enable a considerable reduction in neonatal morbidity and mortality rates, as well as the provision of specific care through a medical unit that is adequately equipped in order to offer a healthy start in life to all infants born within or transferred to this unit.

CURRENT SITUATION:

• Based on some alarming statistics and the hospital’s history, there has NEVER been created a real and operational structure to serve as the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or as a department dedicated to premature infants to serve a community.

• The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit within the Constanta County Clinical Emergency Hospital is THE ONLY intensive care unit providing healthcare for the newborn, premature infants or infants with medical conditions in the South-Eastern part of Romania.

• In Constanta county, infant mortality reaches alarming heights which are 3 times higher than the European average.

In 2014, out of 3450 births, 1343

newborns required specific neonatal

intensive care within the premature

unit of the Constanta County Clinical

Emergency Hospital. 50 of these

children died before they reached one

year of age.

IDENTIFIED SOLUTION:

In June 2014, the “Daruieste Aripi” Association designed a rehabilitation and modernization project for the neonatal intensive care unit, thanks to the expertise of Catalin Carstoveanu, MD, Head of the Neonatology Department of the “Marie Curie” Children`s Hospital, and with the help of a team specialized in hospital architecture.

THE BUDGET OF THE PROJECT is 1.500.000 euros.

PROJECT STATUS:

Signing the agreement between the “Daruieste Aripi” Association as sponsor (donor) and the Constanta County Clinical Emergency Hospital as beneficiary (donee)

Identifying the necessary space (800 sqm, located on the 8th floor, sector V) for the project implementation

Statistical analysis of the data regarding the activity in recent years - highlighting the need to supplement the number of cells within the intensive care and premature department

Drawing up the architectural plans

Sending the doctors to the "Marie Curie" Hospital in Bucharest for specialized training Fundraising Telemedicine resources Initiating and performing reconstruction works within the Unit Fitting the Unit with advanced medical equipment Official project launch

Expected results: a. A decrease in the mortality level of Constanta County Clinical Emergency Hospital from 8% to 4%. b. An increase in the knowledge of the medical staff, by providing them with a minimum of 3 training sessions per year and expertise exchanges with leading medical centers in Romania and Europe.

c. A 70% decrease in the risk of infections, by improving epidemiological circuits and providing care to infants in individual rooms d. Efficient surveillance of newborns by restricting the area of activity to one separated compound

e. Counselling and support for approximately 50 mothers with child abandonment risk and low socio-economic status, annually.

MEASURES TO BE TAKEN: *rehabilitating and equipping an 800sqm surface, with all the medical equipment necessary to provide effective and efficient medical assistance to newborn infants. *Supplementing the number of beds, (from 8 to 24). *Increasing the number of medical doctors * Training the staff and organizing exchanges in and out of the country *Telemedicine resources


The "Daruieste Aripi" association is the only organization in Constanta that has successfully implemented strategic projects at the Emergency County Clinical Hospital of Constanta and benefits from the attention of local and central media. We've had reports and shows broadcasted on ProTV, Antena 1, Prima TV, TVR, TV Neptun, Digi 24, as well as local and national newspapers.
