FROM PRESIDENT DAVE'S DESK
Comrades, I am happy to report that the long awaited membership survey has been completed. We are already seeing results. The turnout for the Poppy campaign was a lotbetter than in other years. Also, the Listening Post is being sent out to a lot more members via the internet, resulting in savings to the Branch and better quality product to the members who receive it in colour. As earlier stated, a far better turn out for the Poppy Campaign was realized. As a result a lot more taggers were present and a much better coordinated effort was obtained. Comrade Jim Young and his committee are tobe congratulated for the extra effort they put forth.
New members continue to be initiated to the Branch. At the September General Membership meeting, five new members were sworn in. The bad news to report is that the Building Committee has not progressed. To date, a proposed draft was received from the City. It was checked by our solicitor, Max Sinclair, who recommended a number of amendments. These were reviewed and our proposals have been re-submitted. In other words, round and round we go. There is good news, though. Mr. Sinclair advises that he has not charged the Legion previously andwill not do so this time. Finally, as this is the last Listening Post of this calendar year, I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
Your annual membership fees are now due – $50.00 per year.
If you have not already done so,please contact the office to arrangefor payment or pay your dues to the
bar steward on duty.

SICK & VISITING Thank you to all that have donated Legion magazines and other items tobring out to our Veterans. Also, a huge thanks to those who came out and helped with the visits. If there are any knitters out there, lap blankets would be greatly appreciated to add a little extra warmth in these coming winter months for our wheelchair bound members. NEWS FROM THE LADIES AUXILIARY
I would like to start by thanking the many people who worked, donated and supported our Annual Fall Tea. Once again, it was a great success. We welcomed all the assistance from the Branch members who helped with setup and serving. The winner or our 50/50 draw was Oliver Kappanen. The prize amount was $871.00. Many thanks, also, to those who sold the tickets. If you haven't heard, our Friday dinners are slowing down due to lack of convenors. Please check with the bar and reserve early. As the year comes to a close, I would like to thank everyone for their help and wish you a
Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
