you envision your story told on-site, underground,
or in a conceptual space?
What do you want to show in the video? What is
there to visually see?
KEY MESSAGE
In one sentence (without saying “and”), boil it down and say what it
is that this video must accomplish.
What do you want people to do after they watch it?
What’s the call to action?
What equipment are you going to show?
THE STEP OUTLINE
To create a step-by-step outline, we suggest using either notecards or big Post It notes. On each
card, include:
● Scene topic (ex: benefit of product/service, use case, on-site demonstration)
● Where the scene takes place
● What points you want to make/what you want to say
● What equipment you want to include in the video
Once you finish writing each card, start organizing them into your story arc. What is the beginning,
middle and end of your story? An option for many is to explain the process from beginning to end.
And for goodness sake, if you have a lightning bolt moment of what to show, write it down!
