Presidents’!Letter!

In!the!midst!of!the!busy!holiday!season,!we!would!like!to!take!this!opportunity!to!thank!our!Hanes!families!for!their!support!in!2012.!!Our!PTSA!membership!has!grown!to!364!parent,!teacher!and!student!members.!!With!your!contributions,!our!Hospitality!Committee!again!offered!a!wonderful!luncheon!for!our!teachers!and!staff.!!We!have!parent!volunteers!to!coordinate!our!very!active!Yearbook,!STEM!and!Service!Clubs.!!And!we!have!raised!over!$13,000!towards!our!Donations!for!Dragons!fundraising!campaign!!!With!your!continued!support!we!are!close!to!meeting!our!goal!of!$15,500!which!will!be!used!for!Curriculum!Enhancement!in!our!classrooms!and!updating!our!technology!in!our!computer!labs!and!elsewhere.!!

In!the!month!of!December,!we!hope!all!of!you!can!join!us!for!STEM!Night!on!December!11th!at!6:00!p.m..!!This!wonderful!event!highlights!the!innovation!and!talents!of!our!students!as!they!display!their!science!fair!projects!and!show!us!what!Hanes’!STEM!program!is!all!about.!!Please!stop!by!the!Hanes!PTSA!table!that!night!to!learn!more!about!how!our!PTSA!supports!our!STEM!program!and!how!our!Donations!for!Dragons!contributions!will!be!used!to!enhance!school!technology.!!Then!join!us!on!December!13th!for!our!second!General!PTSA!meeting!during!the!intermission!between!our!school!band!performances!at!Reynolds!Auditorium.!

Finally,!our!PTSA!will!host!“What!You!Need!to!Know!before!Freshman!Year”!on!January!10th!at!7:00!p.m..!!This!program!features!speakers!from!area!high!schools!and!universities!who!will!answer!questions!on!topics!that!include:!!differences!between!honors,!seminar!and!AP!courses;!what!makes!for!a!well9rounded!high!school!experience;!what!do!colleges!and!universities!look!for!in!their!applicants,!as!well!as!questions!from!our!audience.!!We!encourage!rising!9th!graders!to!attend!as!well!as!their!families.!!Look!for!more!information!on!this!program!in!upcoming!Wednesday!packets!and!weekly!email!reminders.!!!

FLL'Robot'Run'2012''On!November!3,!five!Hanes!FLL!teams!competed!in!the!Robot!Run!!
