The Dunkley Herald Term 4 Week 7 20th November 2017
Safe Respectful Learners
Planned School Maintenance We are currently undergoing scheduled maintenance at school at the moment, and there is more planned work on the way! Currently all of the rooms in Block A are being painted (Uniform shop, Mrs Grenell’s room, 5/6SV, 4/5B, 1/2F, 2/3M and the Staffroom). I would like to commend students and staff for their patience and flexibility during this very challenging time. As each room gets painted, classes have been relocating to the library, which in turn has affected Mrs Michalak’s library lessons. Classes have been playing ‘tag’ in the library extremely efficiently since painting started! The next major project planned is replacement of the roof on Block B (K/6T and KW) as well as replacement of downpipes and gutters, together with some minor external painting. Here are some snapshots of the progress in Block A so far…

P&C Annual General Meeting The next P&C Meeting is on November 29. At this meeting, all current positions will be declared vacant and processes will be followed to vote in a new P&C. Please find later in this newsletter position descriptions and nomination forms. We would love as many of our school community members to attend on November 29 so that together we can build upon and grow our P&C for the benefit of our students here at school. Before the official AGM commences, parents, carers and community members will need to become a financial member so that they can be nominated and vote. It costs 50 cents to become a financial member. Everyone in our school community is welcome to come! If you are new to the school, or will be new to the school in 2018, we would like to extend a very warm welcome. It is always fantastic to have new faces and new members participate and share new ideas. Additional nomination forms and position descriptions are available at the office. Completed nomination forms can be left at the office anytime from now until the November 29 P&C AGM. Canteen Roster

Active Kids Rebate program
The 2017-18 Budget will allocate $207 million over four years to establish the Active Kids Rebate
program to help NSW families meet the cost of getting their kids into sport and fitness activities.
From 31 January 2018, parents will be able to claim up to $100 per school child, per calendar
year, as a voucher to reduce the cost of sport registration or membership fees for after-school,
weekend and structured fitness or physical activity.
These activities could include: traditional sport such as netball, football or basketball; swimming
classes or lessons; as well as other fitness or physical activities such as gymnastics or athletics.
A comprehensive list of eligible sports and activities will be finalised following community
consultation ahead of the start date, to allow providers to register with the NSW Office of Sport.
The voucher will not be means-tested and available to every school child wanting to get active in
their community through sport and active recreation.
Parents will be able to register online to get their voucher to a sports club or registered provider to
receive the rebate.
The Active Kids Rebate program will help deliver on the Premier’s Priority of reducing child
overweight and obesity rates by five per cent over 10 years. More information can be found by
