Dear ZBR Member,

Here we are in March. Mother Nature has had a big effect on both our business and our per-

sonal lives. It’s been hard to be in the mood to house hunt in zero degree weather. BUT, spring

IS coming!! Let’s all make the commitment to SPRING FORWARD as we reset our clocks this

Sunday and look forward to warmer days ahead!!

We FINALLY have our new business sign in the yard and look forward to adding spotlight(s)

and landscaping as weather permits. Another project for the Board this Spring/Summer is

to spruce up the exterior of our office building to project a better image for the business we

are promoting.

The MATRIX training has been rescheduled to March 13-14 at the John McIntire Library.

NORMLS will offer an evening class on Thursday from 5:30-7:30 and TWO classes on Friday,

10:30-12:30 or 1:30-3:30. Registration will be on the NEOHREX website or by calling 1-888-

266-7657. There is no charge to attend, and I encourage everyone to attend to get this val-

uable training!!

The new ZBR Purchase Agreement is complete and will be on the website Members Only

page by the end of this week. Much time and thought has gone into updating it—thanks to

those who served on the committee—George Sherry, Pat Archer, Jodi Bice, Deb Davis Gra-

ham, Christy Buck, Bobbi Lepi (and me!). Ashley Becker also helped with making it so you

can type right into the form, which will make our lives much easier. The log-in for the

Members Only page is zbr and the password is y-bridge.

Our YPN group will have a ‘speed-networking’ event on March 19th at the Greenhouse at Vista View Golf Course. Is finding time to make new business connections an issue? We have the answer! Speed Networking is a fast and fun way to create new business connec-tions as well as marketing yourself. Get the chance to share with others the skills and exper-tise you have to offer. You will meet face to face with participants in a fast paced setting. There is no time for long presentations here…Just grab your business cards, brush up on your “Elevator Speech” and you’re ready to go. Come and network with individuals in the community and help improve your business for 2014.

Mary Bates and Jodi Bice have organized a great mini-convention on March 26-27 at the

Knights of Columbus Hall here in Zanesville, AND at a great price!! Thanks to our Affiliates

who are sponsoring classes this time —First American Title, Mid-Ohio Title, Huntington

Bank and Century National Bank. Attending CE live versus on-line gives you the opportuni-

ty to watch and learn from visual cues, body language and the overall atmosphere and envi-

ronment in a level of learning that is not easily accessed via on-line classes.

I look forward to these opportunities and to seeing many of you this month. Spring is coming!

It’s that time of year to begin anew. Please join us—you’ll be glad you did!

TIPS FROM LARRY...

When you spend your free time vol-

unteering thru church and school and

community activities, you create a

valuable opportunity to influence

public opinion about the value a

REALTOR® brings to the communi-

ty. Not only are you making the

world a better place for others, but

you are also giving others a chance to

know you personally and are creating

an additional opportunity to promote

yourself and the real estate industry

in general and encourage potential

buyers to ‘shop locally’ for their

agent. Remember to wear your

REALTOR® pin!

Here’s a good read for REALTORS®

(and for everyone!).

Lessons From My Brother Zig

authored by Mary Johnson and Floyd

Wickman. We all know that Zig Ziglar

is one of the most powerful motivational

speakers of or time. Chapter 6 of this

book offers an insightful lesson about

living with a grateful heart.

1. Say THANK YOU often. Express-

ing your gratitude to or clients and

those who support our business for

their services makes you AND them

feel better. It brings a smile to those

who hear it and say it. Smiles are a

powerful force of good in this

world.

2. Give the gift of attention. Develop

the habit of giving your undivided

attention to all the people you care

about.

3. Forgive. Carrying around anger and

hurt stifles creativity and joy. For-

giveness is a gift we give ourselves.

Young Professionals Network (YPN) The next YPN will be a “speed networking” event at the Greenhouse at Vista View Golf Course on March 19. Membership continues to increase!! The focus of YPN is on networking, education, and community in-volvement. Here are good reasons to become part of this group, or to attend ANY of our ZBR meetings!

1. It’s good to connect on e-mail, it’s better to connect on the phone, it’s BEST to connect face-to-face!

2. Being around like-minded people is inspirational and refreshing.

3. There is a good chance that nearly 90% of the time, a co-worker or colleague will bring the buyer for your listing. Meeting attendance is a great way to get to know the other agents in the community and build a better working relationship with them.

4. We get to meet people who can help us with our business—perhaps they are social media experts or good at staging homes…

5. We can learn valuable experience, insights, shortcuts and money=saving tips. Don’t be afraid to ask for advice: human nature usually means that we are more than happy to pass on the benefit of our wisdom and experience.

6. We get to meet people who share non-business interests, ie. yoga instructor, cake making, photography.

7. If there is a speaker, you can learn an awful lot from one short free talk. Speakers at networking events are usual-ly aware that they have to give real value during their talk if they want to encourage you to become a paying cli-ent. The quality of information is often very high.

8. You may meet people who you ‘joint venture’ with. Keep a look-out for people who would make a good person to partner with. Keep an open mind—it’s not always the obvious ones!

9. You can strengthen your knowledge of and connections to your community, and you are certain to make new friends.

10. Getting out of your office environment for an hour or two is refreshing and can often be a real boost to your mood and inspiration. We are extremely reliant on our own state of mind as to how much we get done and how well we do it—interacting with other business people can be a real motivator!

11. In a relaxed environment, people tend to loosen up and will often share their ideas, strategies and war stories with you.

12. The passion others have for their families, their ministries and their work is contagious! Don’t miss your chance to be inspired!

13. There is strength in being part of a team—much more so that as an individual.

14. It will be a lot of fun!!!

UPDATES FROM THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®

National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) - NAR strongly supports HR 3370

as AMENDED, the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act. NAR

President Steve Brown has sent a letter of support for the legislation that

is being delivered by NAR lobbyists. This legislation is of vital importance

to REALTORS®

NAR learned that Dave Camp, Chairman of the House Ways and Means

Committee, was expected to release his draft for comprehensive reform

of the Federal Tax Reform on February 26. The contents of this draft was

a well-kept secret. In anticipation of the release, NAR sent a letter to all

Members of the House reminding them of NAR’s priorities in tax reform.

NAR will carefully review the draft and will weigh in with comments on

how the proposal affects both residential and commercial real estate.

One final reminder to register for the MATRIX classes at

John McIntire Library on March 13-14. The switch over to

CoreLogic will happen on March 19.

We appreciate NORMLS/NEOHREX making an extra effort

to get an instructor here for us to have face-to-face in-

struction!

Wendy Miller, First American Title Co.,

will provide light refreshments.
