B=CharactersProtagonist--the hero or main character of the story; he or she must overcome obstacles to reach a goal.
AntagonistVillain of the story; He or she tries to prevent the protagonist from reaching a goal.
C=ConflictStruggle between opposing forcesTypes of conflicts:Man vs. man * man vs. societyMan vs. natureMan vs. selfMan vs. supernaturalMan vs machineMan vs unknown
External ConflictExternal conflict-- A problem that can be observed (ex: a fight between 2 brothers)
Internal conflictA problem that exists in a characters mind (ex: guilt, shame, jealousy, etc.)
D=ComplicationsSuspense; events leading up to climax.Also called: Rising Action
E=ClimaxThe high point or turning point in a story
F=ResolutionThe ending; the conflict is resolved.
PlotThe sequence of events in a story
MoodFeeling or atmosphere the author creates
ForeshadowingHints or clues that the author gives his readers about future events in the story.
