Please join us for The Essentials of Disability Evaluation, a comprehensive one-day seminar designed to shed light on the disability evaluation process. Presented free of charge by Medisys Health Group, this seminar will give you the tools you need to put together all the pieces of the disability puzzle. Lectures and case studies will be combined with role playing and group discussions as part of a dynamic learning environment.

The goal of the seminar is to make you an even more knowledgeable and discerning user of independent assessments by providing education on:

> When and why to order an Independent Medical Evaluation

> The process of an Independent Medical Evaluation

> Who can conduct an Independent Medical Evaluation or an Allied Health Evaluation

> How to get the most out of the Independent Medical Evaluations you order

The lectures to be delivered at this seminar are based a synthesis of the curriculum presented internationally by Dr. Stewart-Patterson. Dr. Stewart-Patterson lectures widely on medical disability evaluation, including speaking engagements at Harvard Medical School, American College of Occupational & Environmental Medicine, and Otago University’s graduate course in Occupational Medicine.

The lectures and case studies to be presented in this seminar will explore Coherence Analysis, which involves a review of how the clinical evidence of impairment does (or does not) have a logical and consistent interrelation that provides an over all sense of “fit.”

The following six themes constitute the “7 cs” of coherence Analysis. They have been compiled from multiple sources, including clinical guidelines, medical and legal literature, and expert consensus. They make up the pieces of the disability evaluation puzzle:

1. Continuity of findings

2. Consistency of findings

3. Congruency of diagnosis and disability

4. Compliance with treatment

5. Comorbidity (impact of concurrent diagnoses)

6. Causation plausibility

7. Conclusion

If you work in any of the following fields, The Essentials of Disability Evaluation will be an invaluable source of information:

Human resources > HumanResourcesProfessionals

Occupational Health & Safety > Health&SafetyProfessionals > Return-to-workCoordinators

Disability & Auto insurance (icBc) > ClaimsAdjudicators > CaseManagers > ClaimsCentreDirectors

law > InsuranceDefenceLawyers > PersonalInjuryLawyers > SeniorParalegalProfessionals

Medicine > Physicians > OccupationalHealthNurses > AlliedHealthProfessionals
