The customer usesmicrophones, accelerometers, thermocouples& pressure transducers attached to a performance vehicle tomeasurebrakesquealevents.AProsig P8020isusedtocapture,store and analyse all significant events during a two hour roadtest.Sophisticatedpre-andpost-triggercapturealongwithdatavisualisation in DATS helps to achieve a better understandingof brake squeal. The Prosig system was selected after similar,competitivesystemswereunabletocopewiththeenvironmentalandcapture/analysisrequirements.
Brake Squeal Evaluation on High Performance VehicleThedigitalcontrollinesfromthefiringcontrolsequencefromsolidpropellant rocket motors are used to control a Prosig P8048,whichmeasuresvibrationandpressuresignals.TheP8048systemis configuredwith a digital controlmodule and customacquisitionsoftware for transducer calibration,automaticdata structuringandrockettestsequencemeasurement.
Measurement of Vibration and Pressure in Rocket Motor
AProsig P8004andtheDATS Human Biodynamics Analysis Suiteisusedtomakeassessmentsontheexposureofthehumanbody to vibration data. The data is captured on a moving train.HealthandcomfortcriteriaarecalculatedaccordingtovariousISOstandardsandprovidedtotheuserintheformofstandardreports.Theend-userhasusedmanyoftheresultsinexperttestimonyworkinlegalcases.
Assessment of Human Exposure to VibrationAProsigsystemisusedtosimultaneouslycaptureCAN-busdataandvibrationsignalsonanindustrialrobot.TherobotiscontrolledbyaCAN-busandtheProsig P8000measurestherelationshipbetweensending commands to the robot and seeing the vibration effectscausedby thedisplacement of thehydraulics. Testing in Low Temperature Transonic Wind ThecustomerusesaProsig P8004connectedtoacustomtriaxialaccelerometer to study tarmac surfaces. As a car moves over aroaditcausesarippleintheroadsurface.DATSisusedtoderivedisplacementfromthemeasuredaccelerations.Theresultsareusedtostudydifferenttypesofsurfaceandchangesduetohumidityandtemperature. The goal is to find a surface that does not flex andbreak,butisnottoorigid.
Investigation of Road Surface Materials
Prosig have supplied a turnkey industrial monitoring system thatmeasurestheaccuracyofaninnovativenewdesignofdomesticwatermeter. A P8020 system is used to capture pre-conditioned fluidpressurewaveformstogetherwithothertestrigcontrolparameterssuch as temperatures and pressures. Advanced pulse analysissoftware in DATS analyses the captured signals and producesdetailed reports that comparemeterperformanceatdifferent flowratesundervarioustestconditions.

Thecustomerneedstocheckwhethernoiseandvibrationfromanundergroundtrain line isgoingtocauseanuisance inaproposedmulti-storeyhousingblock.AsophisticatedmeasuringsystembasedonatriaxialaccelerometerisconnectedtoaProsig P8000,whichisusedtocapturethedata.Theresultsoffurtheranalysisareusedtodetermine if thenoiseandvibrationof the trainswill fallwithinprescribedlimits.
Pre-build Assessment of Vibration in Tower BlockAProsig P8000system isusedtomeasurevibrationsatdefinedpoints on seat designed for commercial / industrial / agriculturalvehicles.Theseatsaretestedona3-axisshakerrigwhilesuitablyloaded. TheDATS Human Response software is then used tocheckthattheseatcomplieswiththerelevantstandard.
