Whenever possible, the Fairfield County Engineer’s Office applies for grant money to assist in repairing the roads and bridges in our County. 2016 was a busy year for this office. Five bridges were replaced for a total construction cost of $2,161,234.39. Thanks to both federal and state grants, our office was able to construct these projects for our local share of $652,038.78, with grant monies paying $1,509,195.61. An additional $39,232.00 in federal grant money was awarded to our office for a No Passing Zone Study and to assist with purchasing federal mandated retro-reflectivity signage. Once again this year, the Fairfield County Engineer’s Office teamed up with another local entity in order to improve our roadways for the traveling public. The City of Lancaster was able to obtain federal funding for a bridge replacement on Columbus Street. The County Engineer’s Office assisted with inspection during the construction of this project. Obtaining these extra funds when available gives us the ability to apply funds to more projects throughout the year. It is our mission to continue applying for grant money as it becomes available so that we can keep our roadways safe for the traveling public. 2016 Annual Report THE FAIRFIELD COUNTY ENGINEER’S OFFICE ANNUAL REPORT Did you know the Fairfield County Engineer’s Office: Is responsible for over 363 miles of road.
