Select/Listen to a SongExtensive selection of preset classical and contemporary songs

There are over 170 preset songs built right into the KR-7. You can select the song you’d like bycategory, or insert a floppy disk of Standard MIDI Files for even more choices. The scores for all songsappear right on the “DigiScore.” You can just listen to the presets and play along, play only the melody,or practice the chords for the song. You can also play either hand’s part independently, add themetronome function, repeat certain parts, and record and play back your performance. There is even anintroduction countdown to indicate when to begin playing. The KR-7 has a microphone jack for karaoke singingto Standard MIDI Files too. And it offers a function to add harmony to your singing, plus a variety of vocal effects,such as a Voice Transformer to change the sound of your voice or add echo.

Song StylistFun choice of style arrangements

With just a few touches to the “Song Stylist” menus, you can instantly rearrange the onboard songs that includechord information to a different style: jazz, rock, classical, and others. Or you can create several different arrange-ments for each song. Suddenly a classic piece can be played as rock, or a jazz piece played with Latin-beat. Withthe KR-7, the possibilities are endless.

Music AssistantEasy title or keyword search for perfect accompaniment

The “Music Assistant” is an intelligent help function that assists you in setting up the auto-accompanimentwhich best suits the particular song or style you want to play. You simply select a song title, or even just a keyword related to the song, and the Music Assistant’s auto-setup feature will choose a music style that suits that songperfectly. The KR-7 comes with more than 130 preset settings—each with four different variations—for pro-fessional backup accompaniment. With these settings, you just play a chord, and the accompaniment follows yourlead on the melody. You can also change the accompaniment to different musical styles such as Latin or jazz, andadd fancy introductions and endings to the accompaniment, for an exciting and rousing performance.

Score DisplayRoland’s unique “DigiScore” display

The KR-7’s “Score Display” button activatesRoland’s amazing “DigiScore” onscreen display. The“DigiScore” displays the scores from over 170 preset songs, Standard MIDI Files, or songs yourecord yourself. You can choose to display the staff along with the note name, finger number, chordname, or lyrics. Or, you can display the right hand part or left hand part only. The unique “Touchthe Notes” function lets you listen to any note on the screen just by touching it on the “DigiScore”panel. Or, by dragging your finger over a phrase or series of notes to highlight them, you can playback just that phrase immediately. The score can be displayed along with a picture of the keyboard,so that when you touch any note, both the note and the corresponding key are indicated, forsmooth progress even if you can’t yet read music. You can also connect an outside computer mon-itor to the KR-7, making it possible to display four times the number of bars, with a larger score andlarger lyrics in full color. The KR-7 can even export the score as visual data for printing with yourPC. Another handy feature is the “Replay” function pedal. By assigning this function to the leftpedal, you just step on the pedal to stop the music and try the phrase again. You never need to takeyour hands off the keyboard.NOTE: The chord name display can only be used with some selections of the preset songs, and with songs that include chord data on the

“60 Favorite Selections” floppy disk. The finger number display can only be used on some of the preset practice songs.

Your own personal bandThe KR-7 “Session Partner” function lets you select

the sort of band you want to accompany you. You canchoose up to five virtual band members, and set theirplaying patterns and styles.
