The first death penalty laws date back to as much as 1700BC and death sentences varied to the crime as the punishments ranged from crucifixion, drowning and beating to death to burning alive and impalement. Many think that the death penalty is wrong, but a small minority of people disagree.
Many people argue that the Death Penalty is wrong because they think it is too harsh. They stress that it is not fair no matter what a person has done and nobody deserves to have death as a
punishment. Moreover, some even say that if somebody deserves to have death as punishment, to let God give them that punishment his/herself.
Although most people are against the idea of the Death Penalty being right, a small minority of people think it is a good idea. These people say if there is a Death Penalty, crime
will cut down drastically as lots of people will be scared to commit a crime. Also, they said that it would encourage people not to be criminals meaning a safer and friendlier environment.
