16. The McCoy College, in partnership with Texas State Career Services, held the first mCCoy ColleGe Career
eXpo. Thirty-nine firms and 247 students participated in the job fair.
17. Th e McCoy College hosted a celebration in March in honor of the 10th anniversary of the McCoy gift to name the College. Th e event, ShininG
the liGht on eXCellenCe,
highlighted the achievements by students and faculty over the last decade. Distinguished benefactors, advisory board members and other donors were recognized and thanked for their contributions.
18. Th e Center For entrepreneurial
aCtion (Cea) hosted a 3 Day Startup Program in April. Th irteen outside mentors, four judges and 49 students participated in the intensive bootcamp. Students presented six business plans and three elevator pitches.
19. Th e Texas State Center For
proFeSSional SaleS was awarded full membership status in the univerSity
SaleS Center allianCe (uSCa). Th ere are currently 35 universities worldwide meeting membership requirements of the USCA, with only 21 of those holding full membership. Th e Center now has 18 corporate partners.
20. Th e Texas State student chapter of national aSSoCiation oF BlaCk
aCCountantS (naBa) attended the Southwest Western Regional Student Conference in Houston. Th e chapter received an outStanDinG
aChievement aWarD for Connectivity, Recruitment and
Student Chapter Reporting and Evaluation Program at the 9th Annual NABA Austin Cen-Tex Awards Scholarship Luncheon.
21. Texas State Beta alpha pSi (Bap)
received a kpmG GolD ChallenGe
aWarD at the 2014 International BAP Conference. Th e chapter more than doubled the required hours for volunteer and professional hours to earn gold chapter status. Franz
hutter was selected to be a member of one of the teams in the Project Run With It Competition and his team won their case.
22. Applying knowledge and skills learned in the classroom, graduate and undergraduate students participated in a total of 221 internShipS during the year. At the graduate level, students participated in 49 internShipS, 34 of which were in accounting.
23. For the fourth consecutive year, the Texas State SoCiety oF human
reSourCe manaGement (Shrm) received a superior merit award. Dr.
kay niColS accompanied an undergraduate and a graduate team to the SW Central Regional Student Conference. Students competed in the case competition, where each placed fi fth in their category. Dr. roB
konopaSke facilitated an interview training workshop for select SHRM students who designed and implemented behavioral interviews for 20 Texas State student veterans of the U.S. Armed Services.
24. aSSoCiation For inFormation
teChnoloGy proFeSSionalS (aitp) student chapter members attended the
2014 National Collegiate Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, in April. Th e Texas State team won the Top Monkey Award for the second consecutive year. Out of 59 teams competing, Texas State received six honorable mentions. elizaBeth ulam was awarded a Robert Half Scholarship for $2,500. Two other Texas State students were among the fi nalists.
25. Th e McCoy College study abroad off ered three programs in summer 2014. DrS. ivan BlanCo and DieGo
vaCaFloreS accompanied 32 graduate students enrolled in Emerging Market Economies and Cross-Cultural Management courses to SantiaGo,

Memorial Award for the Outstanding Article in the Journal of Legal Studies Education for her article “Outrage and Engage: A Story of Intimate Domain.”
Dr. Jeremy Sierra was chosen as an outstanding reviewer for the Journal of Services Marketing in the Emerald Literati Network 2014 Awards for Excellence for his significant contributions in 2013.
11. In the first three quarters of FY14, the Small BuSineSS Development Center
(SBDC) served 561 clients and provided 4,594 hours of client assistance; presented 55 professional business seminars, workshops and conferences; and helped create 431 jobs and 40 business startups. The center provided training for more than 1,100 participants and facilitated more than $52 million of capital infusion to qualified businesses.
12. mr. tom roDDy was recognized as a Texas State Distinguished Alumnus in fall 2013. Mr. Roddy is the President of Benson Motors Corporation and Renson Enterprises, Inc. He also serves as a director for the McCoy College Development Foundation.
13. The 2014 BuSineSS leaDerShip Week focused on the theme Mental Health in the Workplace: It’s good for Business. A record

BuSineSS. Fewer than 5 percent of business schools worldwide have earned this distinguished hallmark of excellence. The Department of Accounting earned aCCountinG aCCreDitation in August 2013. Only 180 institutions out of 711 accredited institutions worldwide maintain a specialized AACSB accreditation for their accounting programs.
2. A cross-disciplinary team made up of three Materials Science, Engineering and Commercialization Ph.D. students, an MBA student, liSa taylor, and an MFA student competed at the riCe BuSineSS
plan Competition in spring 2014. The Texas State team was one of 42 selected out of more than 800 entries to present their business plan. The Texas State students won $125,000, the fourth largest amount won by any team this year.

aDminiStration is a student-centered learning community dedicated to sharing values, knowledge and skills that enable students to compete responsibly and successfully in a global business environ-ment. The college serves a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students primarily from Texas. Emphasizing an applied orientation, we value teaching excellence and intellectual contributions, complemented by service. We offer undergraduate majors in accounting, computer information systems, economics, finance, management and marketing. At the graduate level, we offer the master of business administration, master of accountancy, master of science in accounting and information technology, and master of science in human resource management degrees. The following 25 points of pride reflect a sample of our accomplishments in the 2013–2014 academic year and our commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.
3. The Texas State enaCtuS (formerly SIFE) team was named the 2014 U.S. National Champion. The team showcased four projects and competed against 518 teams from across the United States. It will advance to the Enactus World Cup in Beijing, China in October 2014.
4. The Texas State chapter of Beta Gamma
SiGma (BGS), the honor society for accredited schools of business, held induction ceremonies honoring 159 top students and four faculty members. Dr.
ranDy Cook, CIS and QM, retired faculty member, and mS. elizaBeth
terrell, Managing Director of Sales, UPS, were the fall 2013 chapter honorees. Texas State University Provost, Dr. Gene
BourGeoiS, and Texas State Distinguished Alumnus mr. tom roDDy, Benson Motors Corporation and Renson Enterprises, Inc., received recognition in spring 2014. The Texas State chapter was named an eXemplary Chapter for 2013-2014 and also celebrated its 16th anniversary in November 2013.
5. McCoy College graduate students mykayla GooDWin and GreG
Souquette were named the Overall Graduate Division Champions at the 16th Annual national ColleGiate SaleS
Competition. Texas State sales students finished in the top two for the individual and the top three for the team competitions at the international
ColleGiate SaleS Competition held in Florida.
6. The vita (volunteer inCome taX
aSSiStanCe) CliniC, sponsored by the Department of Accounting, provides an opportunity for accounting students to gain real experience preparing tax returns for other students and the San Marcos
community. Accounting Club, Beta Alpha Psi and NABA students dedicated more than 200 volunteer hours in the clinic held February through March. The students prepared and filed 92 returns.
7. Dr. JameS leSaGe, Jerry D. and Linda Gregg Fields Endowed Chair in Urban and Regional Economics, was recognized as a Fellow of the Southern Regional Science Association. He presented the annual address on spatial econometrics at the association’s 53rd Annual Meeting.
8. Texas State MBA student miChele riSko
was a 2013 recipient of a $10,000 scholarship from the teXaS BuSineSS
hall oF Fame. Ms. Risko holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Texas Tech University and is currently a Senior Environmental Analyst with the City of Round Rock.
9. The Texas State ameriCan marketinG
aSSoCiation (ama) chapter swept the top two awards at the 36th Annual International Collegiate Conference when it received an International Platinum Chapter of the Year Award and took first place in the AMA Case Competition. Students developed a relaunch campaign for the Take 5 candy bar for the 2013-14 case client, The Hershey Company. Texas State AMA vice president of programming JenniFer klinGer was selected as winner of the ama eBSCo
marketinG SCholar aWarD.
10. DrS. William ChittenDen and patriCia
pattiSon received the Best Article of the Year Award for 2013 from the Midwest Law Journal for their article “HDC v. RDC: The Risks of Technology.” Dr. patriCia
pattiSon also received the Hoeber
3,700 students participated in the events, which included keynote speaker Dr. oCtavio martinez, Executive Director of the Hoff Foundation for Mental Health, and distinguished speaker mr. Brian
eaSt, Senior Attorney for Disability Rights Texas. The week also included discussion forums, an executive panel, a mini-case competition, an etiquette dinner and an interactive fair.
14. Dr. paula reChner collaborated with mr. Brian mCCoy, mS. meaGan
mCCoy JoneS and Dr. leWiS
aleXanDer to offer a special topics course focused on Leadership Development: Business as Unusual. The course, offered at McCoy’s headquarters, included McCoy executives as mentors/coaches for each student and other McCoy top managment team members as small group disucssion leaders.
15. The teXaS State net impaCt student chapter was named a 2014 International Gold Chapter. Net Impact students worked in data collection and resource recovery at Formula 1, Moto GP and ESPN’s X Games in Austin, and collaborated with Awake Aware America to launch a national program that focuses on STEM education. The collaboration included creating a video focused on water that highlights The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment.
