The Five Pillars of Islam

The first pillar: Shahadah

• Shahadah is the 1st pillar of faith.

• This in states Muslims believe in one god

• To show Muhammad’s prophet hood

The second pillar : Salat

– Is the second pillar of faith

• Daily ritual prayer

• “Prayer is the proof”

• This pillar emphasizes religious discipline

• Because they pray five times a day

The third pillar: Zakat

• Almsgiving: Is a person who reads alms, I know your wondering what alms are? They are food money and other donations you can give

• Muslims believe that they should give back .

• Give what they could

The fourth pillar : Siyam

• Fasting• Or going without food• Muslims were the first people to start

fasting , as a way of worshiping god• Witch is Ramadan this was the day the

Muslims god revealed his message to Muhammad

• They fast from the break of dawn to the setting of the sun.

The fifth pillar: hajj

• Hajj is the pilgrimage to the holy city of Makkah

• They must travel here at least once in a life time

• In the box there are the bones of Muhammad
