THE FLOOD OF NOAH – PART 1GENESIS 7:1-4

God had spoken to Noah over a century earlier assuring him that the Flood indeed would come on schedule; man must repent or die.

With all the urgency possible, Noah preached that coming judgment—year after year—but to no avail.

Grandfather Methuselah, who had served the Lord longer than any man who ever lived, was on his deathbed . . . “when he dies, it shall come.”

NOW HERE COMES THE DELUGE!2

THE BIBLICAL FLOOD ACCOUNT RAISES MANY QUESTIONS

For Christians, is the Flood really all that important?

Isn’t evolution the means whereby God created? Don’t the fossil records really prove evolution? Is uniformitarianism a correct assumption for the

geologic evidence we see today?

Or does the evidence show catastrophism at work?

The historicity of Noah’s Flood is of immense importance to biblical Christianity.

BIBLICAL REASONS FOR BELIEVING IN THE FLOOD OF NOAH

Note: For those who believe in the Bible as the inerrant word of God, these should be sufficient by themselves.

1. Jesus Christ Himself believed the Old Testament record of the worldwide Flood. Matthew 24:39

2. The apostle Peter believed in a worldwide destructive hydraulic cataclysm. 2 Peter 3:6

3. The Old Testament clearly provides a record of a global flood and its results. Genesis 7-9

THE SCIENTIFIC REASONS 1. All the mountains of the world including the two

tallest ranges—the Himalayas and the Andes—have been under water at some time.

2. Most of the earth’s crust—87 percent—consists of sedimentary rocks.

3. The assigned “ages” of the sedimentary beds, which comprise the bulk of the “geologic column,” have been deduced from their “assemblages of fossils” not by the fossils’ ages themselves . . . and many more reasons!

THE PROFUSION OF LIVING FOSSILS

Evolutionists consider what they call “living fossils” to be rare, but this is yet another of their lies to support what they “believe” not what exists as evidence; the famous coelacanth fish being the best-known example.

The fossils of this fish are found only in rocks supposedly older than 70 million years, but living coelacanths—identical to the fossils—have been found in the Indian Ocean.

And here are a bunch more . . .

SOME THINGS TO PONDER

Some 84 percent of the insect families alive today were supposedly alive 100 million years ago.

The same discussion is true for most of the modern amphibians (frogs, toads) as well as reptiles (crocodiles, alligators, turtles).

As well as most mammals (bats, squirrels, shrews, opossums, tarsiers, and many, many others), all of which are practically identical to their fossilized kin.

The fossil record, in marvelous variety and complexity, bears witness to the wisdom and power of the Creator.

The great panorama of suffering and death, as well as extinction, displayed in fossilized remains is a perpetual reminder not of evolution, but of the terrible consequences of human sin on man’s entire dominion.

The Flood of Noah is a far better explanation for the evidence we find today than the uniformitarian patchwork of educated assumptions via evolution!
