MOORHEAD A Moorhead man convicted of trying to beat his girlfriend to death with a base-ball bat was sentenced Thursday to more than 17 years in prison in what judges, prosecutors and police say is the worst domestic violence case theyve ever seen
that didnt end up as a murder.Members of local law enforce-
ment agencies left Michael Karaus sentencing hearing in Clay County District Court on second-degree attempted murder charges with thumbs-up gestures and grim smiles on their faces.
