The foundation of Trinitapoli is relatively recent, the town was founded around 1600 by transhumance shepherds bringing their flocks in Tavoliere of Puglia where the mild climate and presence of wetland areas offering lush pastures even in winter. Originnally, the houses were simple huts made of straw, which gave the country the original name of Casal Straw. Slide 2 Not far from Casale Straw stood the important city of sails. When, for the expansion of the wetland Salpi was abandoned, people moved from Casale and built the church of S. Stefano. The town then changed its name first in Casale of the Trinity and then Trinitapoli. Slide 3 Church of Santo Stefano.
