The ‘G’ eraWe’re living in the “G” era of the 21st
entury. Cell phones advertise the 3Gand coming soon the 4G, gigabytes areeverywhere these days, mega’s gone and
ilobyte is like so passé to even utter itould bring rank disfavor with yourhole persona. Then there’s Google’s plan to take over
the earth. They know where you live, their
Google Earthprogram cansee right intoyour refriger-ator.
You mightwant to keepthat bath-room doorclosed toowhen you’rein the show-er.
Wanna know something instantly?,Google it. Google my name and stateand it takes you right to my web site.
In the old days there were Gstrings...not sure exactly what they were(need to Google G strings, hold on aminute). I’m back.
According to Google, they were tinyunderwear bottoms for women. Therewere several sites Playboy being one of them so I’ll just leave that one alone.
My first thought was the G string on aguitar or piano. Some other G’s from thepast you may remember Gomer Pile’s“Golllleeee!”, Gee Whiz, Giddy Up, (itdid have a comeback by Kramer on theJerry Seinfeld Show back in the 90s).
Today “G’s” are all about high tech. Ihave two 250 Gig external hard drives, a120 Gig laptop, a 500 gig backup drive, a16 & 32 gig USB drive and 2 gig of RAMon the laptop. I think I could be overgigged.
My first computer didn’t have a harddrive, but it did have an A & B floppydrive each with (don’t make fun of meplease) 256K of memory...it was blazing.
So what’s on the horizon, where do wego next? Coming up fast in the rearviewis terabyte which represents a trillionbytes.
You’ll be able to carry your whole lifehistory in a tiny little capsule half thesize of your baby finger.
Yup at 96 it’ll all be there from thewomb to the tomb. We’ll become walk-ing data storage bins. And yes there willbe Trillion Aires, mostly bankers, Wall
Street., hot shots, insurance execs, politicians, movie stars, late night TVtalk show hosts, athletes and let’s notforget those Dayton bus drivers. Somethings never change do they.
If the director of the ROTC atSpringboro, High School is a family manwith children would it be alright to callhim a Pappa ROTC. (come on get yourcamera out and take some pictures)

School districts are guilty in generalof wanting the best for their studentsregardless of the cost. We are going totry to find the acceptable balance forthis community that will keep our stu-dents educated at a superior level, butis still manageable for our taxpayers.
A Balanced Budget- With the help of the community and our Board of Education we will construct a Five-YearPlan for the district that balances ourbudget.
The obvious and first question fromeveryone is whether or not we will beon the ballot and how much will we askfor.
That has not been decided yet and Ithink if we are going to be successful wemust first identify a level of service thatthis community feels they want.
It probably won’t be what I want, but Iam learning to set that aside and listento what all of you expect and want from
your school system. As we move in to 2010 we will have to
engage a large part of the district to besure we are clear on expectations.
This is a real challenge for usbecause in these tough economic timeseveryone’s definition of an adequateeducation has changed.
The three goals above are the initia-tives I feel will allow us to be more suc-cessful for 2010. With the support of ourcommunity we will break down some of the past barriers that have prevented usfrom being good listeners.
The key to accomplishing these goalsis you, the taxpayers of our district. Wemust all band together next year toassure our success.
We will continue to expect you to pro-vide feedback and direction on a regu-lar basis. Please start today by droppingme a line on whether or not you feel weare heading in the right direction. I canalways be reached at [email protected].
