The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement.
The survey contributes to our understanding of parents’ and carers’ perspectives on their child’s experience at school. These include: communication between parents/carers and staff, activities and practices at home, and parent/carer views on the school's support of learning and behaviour.
The survey is conducted entirely online, will typically take 15 minutes or less to complete and is completely confidential. The parent survey is open between 27th August and 26th October. Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary; your responses are very much appreciated. We had 28 responses to the Partners in Learning Parent Feedback Survey in 2016 and 40 in 2017. We hope to continue to build on the response rate this year. More information about the survey is available at: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/information-for-parents
The survey can be accessed at: https://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/galston2018

Giving Working Breed Dogs a Second Chance Herd2Homes Dog Rescue is an Australian not-for-profit registered charity that focuses on rescuing and rehoming working breed dogs. Their mission is: • to save working breed dogs from death row pounds, shelters, private surrenders and farming properties, from
being killed; • to care for them, arrange veterinary treatment, provide training and rehabilitate the dogs, before finding a suitable
and permanent adoptive home for them; • all dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, worm and flea treated and desexed before being adopted out to suitably
matched forever homes; • to provide education on responsible pet ownership practices and responsible rehoming practices. The School Representative Council (SRC) is inviting all students to support this cause and donate a gold coin to the charity on Wednesday 12th September. Students may wear mufti and closed sensible shoes on the day. Geeta Pendharkar – SRC Coordinator Peer Support This week in Peer Support the children will practise developing their strengths. This will help your child to become more resilient and optimistic. Ask your child to share with you the strengths they identified during this week’s session. Gemma Watson and Giulia Muscat – Year 6 teachers K-2 Responsible Pet Ownership Program The K-2 students were scheduled to attend a responsible pet ownership program funded by the NSW government at school on Wednesday 29th August focusing on “Children living safely with dogs”. This program has been postponed to Friday 21st September as the educator due to visit was unwell on the day of the scheduled visit. We look forward to experiencing the program on the revised date. Erin Bolger – Organising teacher News From 3-4S We have been very busy in 3-4S this term and are having so much fun learning and applying new skills. We have also been enjoying showing our parents and loved ones all our work on SeeSaw. In Maths we are fast becoming comfortable with trading in addition and subtraction, and are learning strategies to make it easier. We have made so much progress and have got really good at it!

In English we have been learning about informative texts and reading books by Jackie French. These books have inspired lots of art and some of our best writing to date! From these books we have seen different ways to share information and tell a story.
In Geography we are researching what makes Australia special, along with unique landforms found in Australia. We have been working in groups to research answers for all of our questions about Australia.
We have been having a great time at PSSA and try our hardest every week to practise sportsmanship, have a go, and support our team. Thank you to all our loved ones who came to visit us on Open Day, we loved seeing you all and showing you our work.
