In co-operation with the Commissioner for Petroleum, Republic of The Gambia, Spectrum plan to acquire and Broadband process upto 7,000 km2 long offset (8km) deep water 3D seismic offshore The Republic of Gambia.

These 3D’s are outboard of the Jurassic to Aptian carbonate platform margin edge , covering the narrow Jurassic syn-rift and possible SDR’s of the outer high and oceanic crust. The 3D’s will target mixed system clastic plays basin floor fans similar to the contourite modified basin floor fans of Yaakar, of both Cenomanian, Albian and Late Jurassic.

Spectrum’s seismic 2D dataset offshore The Gambia has recently been fully Broadband reprocessed through comprehensive PSTM and PSDM work flows. Angle stacks and gathers are available for attribute analysis. This seismic data clearly defines the basin floor fan slope play (as seen in the FAN-1 discovery) and shelf margin plays both on the Albian sand shelf edge (SNE discoveries) and Cenomanian sand buried hill (Belatrix-1 discovery).

Multi-Client 2D Seismic

In order to de-risk source rock presence, quality and maturity over the proposed 3D area, a detailed source rock characterization has been carried out. Low frequency packages were initially identified as candidate source rocks. The top and base picks of these units were in turn refined using the criteria that “top and base of thick (>20m) organic-rich claystones should be expressed by a

significant reduction and increase in AI respectively“. Finally the AVO response for each of the “candidate” source rocks was tested. Excellent quality source rock character was identified for the horizon inferred to relate to the “Black Shale” Albian-Turonian source rock encountered in DSDP0367, estimated to have TOC% of 3-10%. Both structural 4 way dip closed structures draping over

basement highs and high amplitude basin floor fan stratigraphic traps overlie this high quality source rock, expected to be in the oil maturity window. Significant potential offshore The Gambia, to be offered in upcoming bid rounds, can be fully evaluated using Spectrum’s existing 2D and future 3D datasets.
