Taylor Community 2019 Music Series
Meadowlark Trio Sunday, September 15 at 3pm
Janny Joo, Violin; Timothy Paek, Cello; and April Sun, Piano
The Meadowlark Trio hails from America’s heartland. Formed by three best friends in 2012, the trio has since performed nationwide to great acclaim.
Generously supported by Bank of New Hampshire, Taylor’s 2019 Music Series performances are free and open to the public. No reservations are required.
A donation from Resident Judith Dean helped to make this concert possible.
The kits are growing up. We’re so fortunate for our wildlife!

Staff Spotlight Mary Ford
Taylor Home residents are treated to a daily display of super work ethic by housekeeper Mary Ford. Mary spends most days in Taylor Home, but may also be seen at Ledgeview or cleaning in the Ledges. She’s been at Taylor for 21 years now, the first 16 working for Taylor’s dietary department. Her contagious enthusiasm for her job and the residents is remarkable, and her atti-tude and attention to detail are her hallmarks.
This was Mary’s response when I asked what she likes best about Taylor Community: “Everybody — residents and staff — is family here. We really are a community that takes care of each other.” Her greatest satisfaction is when she can “make it special for the residents.” If you’ve seen Mary at work, you know she means it.
Mary lives in Laconia with Stephen, her husband of 32 years, and has three adult children and 9 grandchildren she adores and loves to spend time with. Mary enjoys physical activity and participates in many charity walks. An avid and vocal New England Patriots fan, she avers that Taylor Community could only be better if Tom Brady were to live here. Mary’s LEAST favorite thing is eleva-tors, and she will carry almost anything up or down the stairs to not use one. I love to tease her about this and have offered her many elevator rides only to be turned down, but she takes this ribbing good naturedly.

Taylor Staff is Putting Out Fires!
Thursday, July 25 marked the first of four fire extinguisher trainings for Taylor Community Staff. Taylor Community’s very own Jim Hayes is conducting this hands-on training, and the response has been over-whelmingly positive. Many staff members have commented on how informative the training is, and how engaging Jim is in presenting the infor-
mation. Taylor Community is very fortunate to have someone with Jim’s background on staff. Jim is the former Gilford Fire Chief, and was able to bor-row their training equipment, which allowed staff to put out real fires in a controlled setting. House-keeper Ann Marie Sweatt noted that this was the best in-service she has ever attended, and Helen Tarmy stated, “Jim is a wonderful instructor. I learned a lot!”
Our Poor Mail Carrier was Confused!
Aren’t we all so sick of junk mail?!!! (Yes!)
One resident must have been trying to effect the flow into their mailbox, and had been writing, “Deceased — Return to Sender” on lots of it.
This prompted Mail Carrier Don to come see me in my office, to find out if the resident was indeed deceased, as the box also contained regular outgoing mail. And wasn’t he glad to hear that the resident was alive and well!
First Class Mail may be “returned to sender” if you wish. The reduced-fee type mails, those that are presort standard or non-profit, can only be returned if labeled “Address Correction Requested” or “Return Postage Guaranteed.” The others will only be thrown away if they make it back to the post office, so please discard them yourself.

Exploring Their Creative Sides

Fraud Alerts
Social Security is still calling.
Actually, they’re still NOT, but scammers still are. A caller purports that your Social Security Number is being used in a fraud and that your account will be suspended unless you speak with someone. Of course, it’s designed for you to give over your Social Security Number. Hang up.
Eversource is calling again.
Nope, they aren’t either. Another power wholesaler might, or it might be a scam. Sometimes letters or cards arrive in the mailbox too. This can be confus-ing, because an electric bill charges for actual power, and then for the distribution or transmission of the power. Eversource is the only transmission source as it is their power lines and grid, but the power itself is a commodity that can be purchased from any one of a large number of suppliers.
A New One? Free Genetic Testing!
No again! The Office of the Inspector General says fraudsters are offering cheek swabs for genetic test-ing, to obtain Medicare information for identity theft or fraudulent billing purposes. They’re targeting people through telemarketing calls, booths at public events, health fairs, and door-to-door visits. Do not offer any information, and if a genetic kit is mailed to you, refuse the delivery or return it to the sender, keeping a record of the sender’s name and date.
