Loved Peanuts … The new young pastor was calling on the elderly who could no longer go to church. His first call was a lady known to everyone as Aunt Sally. She was quite old and in a nursing home. The pastor was quite nervous, and loving peanuts, he kept eating some from a bowl at her bedside. When he got up to leave, he
noticed he had eaten all of the peanuts.
Embarrassed, he stammered, “I’m so sorry. I ate all your peanuts.”
“Oh, that’s all right,” replied Aunt Sally. “I’d already gummed all the chocolate off them anyhow.”
Untimely Answered Prayer … One Sunday
during the minister’s prayer, there was a loud whistle from one of the back pews. Ben’s mother was horrified. She pinched him into silence and, after church, asked, “Ben, whatever made you do such a thing?”
Tommy excitedly answered, “I asked God to teach me how to whistle and He did!”

Flip-Flop-Fun-Day at MVIS a Huge Success!!!!
For the special May outreach project the Anniversary Committee chose to reach out to the Mt. Vernon Intermediate School which
serves grades 3-5 with a fun day and lots of giveaways. After
collecting our supplies, we assembled 330 giveaway
packs which included flip-flops, sunglasses and sunscreen. We also gave
out more than 300 custom drawstring backpacks with the church’s web-site.
Additionally we gave away ice cream cups and Jell-0. Activities included playing in bounce houses donated by Brads True Value,
parachute games, and a bead bracelet craft. The children, faculty and staff
loved it and we’re so thankful for this “ministry” as they referred
to it.
Special thanks to the Mt. Vernon Schools for allowing us to do this special outreach project. Special thanks to each of our
volunteers for picking up supplies, assembling gifts, and working this outreach event. Finally thank you for your thoughts and prayers for
the success of this event.

… WOW! It’s hard to believe we’re just about half-way through this special 150th Year. Our special monthly outreach activities have been tremendous ranging from food drives, to pancake breakfasts, to giving away more than 300 summer fun bags for students.
For June’s outreach activity the church is hosting a free community BBQ and Gospel message fashioned after the old-time Tent Revivals. This is the first of two big events celebrating the church's 150th Anniversary so PLEASE mark your calendars and plan to attend! This is a great opportunity to reach out to friends, neighbors, and church members you haven’t seen for a while.
Special guests include Pastor Jack Daniel from FCC El Dorado Springs and That Dalton Gang. See you on June 24th at 5:00 pm!
