FACTS OF THE GREY WOLF Diet: They eat large-hoofed mammals. Size: Height-26-32 in., Length-4.5-6.5 ft.,

Weight-55-130 pounds. Lifespan: 7-8 years Climate: Winter-28 F, Average Springtime-40

F.,Summertime-59 F. Relationships: They do not interact with other

animals very well. Age of Reproduction: 1 year old.

FACTS CONT. Offspring: usually in January or

February, Gestation: 63 days Litter Size: 4-7 pups Pups are born blind and defenseless. They are carnivores. If food is scarce, they will eat rodents.

GROUP OR PACK ANIMALS They live in packs. It is the largest wild canine. Males are larger than females. They have pointed ears and yellow

brown eyes. They have a rough coat. It has many special adaptations. They have a top speed of about 40

miles per hour.

WHY ARE GRAY WOLVES ENDANGERED? Some say that they are endangered because

they are misunderstood. Many people hunted the wolves and trapped

them. They would infect them with mange. The hunters would chop their legs off and

watch them die a slow and painful death.
