Bats across North America have been devastated by white-nose syndrome, a fatal disease caused by a fungus. Scientists at the zoo’s Urban Wildlife Institute are helping bats by monitoring them across the Chicago area, using acoustic detectors and spectrograms to analyze calls and identify species population patterns.
