Rachel GoldsteinNew Development Leasing Specialist, CA Student Living

Rachel Goldstein is a New Development Leasing Specialist with CA Student Living, where she

focuses on leasing and marketing efforts for CA Ventures' growing portfolio of student housing

developments. Since July 2016, Rachel served as Interim Property Manager for ARC at Old

Colony and Infinite Chicago, CA Student Living's two student housing properties in downtown

Chicago. As Interim Property Manager, she oversaw day-to-day operations of the properties,

including resident relations, leasing, marketing, maintenance, and financial performance.

Rachel has over 7 years of experience in student housing and began her career as a Community

Assistant at the University of Kansas. She CA in August 2015 as Property Manager for

Uncommon Madison, a student housing development near the University of Wisconsin-Madison

that opened in August 2016. Rachel graduated from the University of Kansas and holds a B.A. in

Religious Studies.

Dan Hrankowsky Vice President of Design and Development, CA Ventures

Dan Hrankowsky is Vice President of Design and Development at CA Ventures. Dan started

with CA in 2012 after working at Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture in Chicago and Fitzsimons

Office of Architecture in Lexington, KY. Dan has a Bachelors in Architecture from the

University of Kentucky and a Masters in Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Magellan Development Group LLCJames A. LosikNational Marketing Director

Jim Losik, national marketing director of Magellan Development Group LLC, is responsible for coordinating the marketing activities for all of Magellan’s multifamily high-rise portfolio throughout downtown Chicago, Nashville and Miami. He is also directly involved in the marketing of Magellan’s latest condominium development, Vista Residences, a 406-unit, 97-story luxury high-rise tower which once completed will be the third tallest building in the City.

Prior to Magellan, Losik established Realty Impact, LLC in 2009, a real estate consultancy providing sales, marketing, leasing, management and work-out solutions for residential property owners, developers and lenders. These services were provided to clients located in Illinois, Minnesota and Missouri. Assignments include the sales, marketing and leasing of condominium developments located in Burr Ridge and Vernon Hills, Illinois as well as miscellaneous listings throughout the Chicago metropolitan area.

Losik is a veteran in the real estate industry, beginning his career in 1987 when he joined Draper and Kramer. Years later in 2011, he rejoined D&K as Vice President. Losik was responsible for the marketing and new business development of the condominium management division.

Losik holds a Bachelor of Science from Western Michigan University, graduating magna cum laude, and a Masters of City Planning from Southern Illinois University. Throughout his career, Losik has been licensed in Illinois, Minnesota and Missouri as a residential broker. Losik has also been a member of: the Association of Realtors (Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Louis); the American Planning Association; and the American Institute of Certified Planners. ■

SAMUEL I. ANKIN BIOGRAPHY

Sam Ankin co-founded Northpond Partners, LLC. His primary responsibilities involve sourcing and structuring new investment opportunities, and he also serves as a member of the Investment Committee. Mr. Ankin was also a founding partner of Shiner Capital Partners, LLC, an entity that sponsored SCP Realty Fund I, LP and SCP Realty Fund II, LP. Since 2007, Mr. Ankin has led or supported the identification and analysis of more than 1,500 investment opportunities and through his leadership, he has closed on 33 investments with a gross asset value in excess of $340,000,000.

Prior to Shiner Capital, Mr. Ankin served as Development and Acquisition Manager for Shiner Group, where he was responsible for land and asset acquisitions, as well as coordinating the development of retail, office and mixed-use projects in the Chicagoland area and the Carolinas. At Shiner Group, Mr. Ankin led or supported the development of more than 12 projects consisting of approximately 1,000,000 square feet of commercial space. Before joining Shiner Group, Mr. Ankin worked at LaSalle Bank, most recently in the commercial real estate group.

Mr. Ankin graduated from the Real Estate Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Granger School of Business with Academic Distinction. Mr. Ankin is a member of the ICSC Foundation Board of Directors and the National ICSC Next Generation Leadership Board (immediate past chair). He also sits on the Board of Advisors of the James A. Graaskamp Center for Real Estate at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and is an Executive Board member of The Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation. A native of the Chicagoland area, he currently resides in Chicago with his wife Erin and their two children.

Professional Expertise Trisha Connolly is the manager of the Equity, Debt & Structured Finance team for the Central Region. Ms. Connolly’s 10 years of experience in commercial real estate finance includes loan restructure, term financing, syndicated credit facility, construction financing with majority of her focus on retail transactions. Trisha focuses on of business development and execution for EDSF at Cushman and Wakefield. She is responsible for integrating the EDSF group with other service lines throughout the Chicago office.

Prior to Cushman & Wakefield, Trisha spent more than five years at General Growth Properties (GGP), where she was an Associate within their Capital Markets team, focusing primarily on workouts, refinances and development financing, working on the execution of 27 transactions in 2012 alone. Also while at GGP, she was involved in the formation of a new REIT, Rouse Properties; a $1.5 billion transaction that successfully split off 31 assets from GGP to Rouse Properties, Inc. in January 2012.

Elan Rasansky Director, RKF

Elan Rasansky joined RKF in February 2012. He specializes in retail tenant and landlord representation in Chicago. Elan has since secured high-profile lease and purchase opportunities in Chicago’s most desirable downtown retail markets on behalf of owners and national retailers. Elan has in the past advised retailers like Panera Bread and DMK Restaurants, and currently works with a variety of retailers including Adidas, Aesop, Batteries Plus Bulbs, Coyote Ugly, Earl’s Kitchen + Bar, IT’SUGAR, Marbles The Brain Store, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Rossopomodoro, Smashburger, Snarf’s, Sugar Factory, and The Gardner School.

He has also worked on behalf of property owners such as Acadia Realty Trust, Clark Street Real Estate, Crescent Heights, Friedman Properties, Jenel Management, Jupiter Realty Company, L3 Capital, Madison Capital, Newcastle Limited, Related Midwest, Troutman and Dams, The Trump Organization, Vequity and W Realty Holdings.

Most recently, Elan has represented Sugar Factory in their lease assignment of the former Seasons 52 space at 55 East Grand Avenue, and represented Jeff Mastro in bringing his new Steak 48 concept to Chicago with a 14,000 -SF, bi-level restaurant at 615 North Wabash Avenue in River North.

Elan has arranged multiple first-to-market transactions with Aesop at 1653 North Damen Avenue in Bucktown and Glaze Teriyaki at 3112 North Broadway Street in West Lakeview; he represented the tenants. Elan also represented L3 Capital on the transaction with Bareburger at 3345-55 North Lincoln Avenue in West Lakeview.

Elan arranged a 1,988-SF lease with Brown Bag Seafood at 340 East Randolph Street on behalf of Related Midwest. He also arranged a flagship 5,237-SF lease with Aurelio’s Pizza at 1212 South Michigan Avenue and a 1,500-SF lease with Lenscrafters at 908 N. State Street on behalf of Crescent Heights. He has been very active in the Fulton Market district as he recently secured Aesop’s second Chicago location at 936 W. Fulton Market, representing both the tenant and the landlord, as well as a 2,900-SF lease with Gyu-Kaku at 1364 West Randolph Street on behalf of ownership.

Elan is currently marketing several properties on behalf of owners, including 65 E. Oak Street, Trump International Hotel & Tower, Friedman Properties’ River North portfolio, Madison Capital’s Fulton Market Portfolio, 843 W. Amitage Avenue, 3345-3355 North Lincoln Avenue, 127 South State Street and a new 28,000-sf retail development on Lake Street in Oak Park.

Prior to joining RKF, he was with Baum Realty Group where he executed brokerage services for many retailers including Advance Auto Parts, Armands Pizzeria, Doctors Express, and Great Clips.

Elan is a graduate of the University of Kansas where he earned a Bachelor of Psychology degree with a Business minor and was a member of the University of Kansas Real Estate Club. He is an Illinois licensed Real Estate Broker and is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.

Andy Stein Principal, Clark Street Real Estate

Mr. Stein is involved in all aspects of leasing and development at Clark Street Real Estate just as he performed at his prior position as Vice President of Development at Joseph Freed and Associates LLC, where he was responsible for site selection, land acquisition and the entitlement process for development projects. In addition, he was involved in the selection of and the negotiation with national retailers for new developments, redevelopments and remerchandising of existing properties. Prior to joining Clark Street Development, Mr. Stein worked for the Weitzman Group/Cencor Realty in research, marketing and real estate development.

Clark Street Development is a recently formed real estate development partnership of like-minded individuals that specialize in the development of retail shopping centers throughout the United States. Founded in the fall of 2005, the principals came together cementing already established development project relationships in this new venture. Balancing the interests of the retailers, with the intensity objectives of the developer and with the community and political concerns can be a daunting task. The Clark team, through creativity, experience and objectivity, has overcome these obstacles on numerous occasions over the years. The results are properties that are easily understood and have ready appeal to the investment community.

Aaron M. Tucker Vice President & General Counsel, Tucker Development

Aaron M. Tucker joined Tucker Development (Tucker) in January of 2015. As Vice President and General Counsel, he is responsible for both business development and legal matters involving Tucker and its affiliates.

Prior to joining Tucker, Mr. Tucker practiced law with Kirkland & Ellis LLP. At Kirkland & Ellis, Mr. Tucker focused his practice on commercial real estate including development, finance and leasing matters relating to complex real estate transactions.

Mr. Tucker received his Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs, with a concentration on International Economics, from The George Washington University and his Juris Doctorate from Chicago-Kent College of Law. Mr. Tucker is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and is admitted to the Illinois Bar. Mr. Tucker is also active in several non-profits including being an Executive Committee Member of the JUF Young Real Estate Group, a Next Generation Trustee of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, a Chicago Next Generation Board Member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, and a Board Member of the Emerging Leaders Board for Mikva Challenge.

Mr. Becker is a seasoned real estate and transaction attorney with more than 25 years of practice. His emphasis is in complex commercial real estate lease negotiations, real estate acquisitions, dispositions and development matters. He is also a member of the Village of Deerfield Planning Commission.

Becker Gurian is an aggressive law firm that provides quality expertise in complicated real estate transactions, including the acquisition, sale, development, construction, leasing and financing of commercial, industrial, and residential property. Doug Bober Division President, Lennar Multifamily Communities

Mr. Bober serves as Division President for LMC’s Midwest Division with a focus on the Chicago market and plans for future expansion throughout the Midwest. He comes from Lennar, where he served as Division President of the Chicago division. During his tenure at Lennar, Doug was responsible for all operations in the Chicago Market. Mr. Bober has an extensive background in the acquisition, entitlement, and construction of residential communities, including single family, mid-rise, and high-rise construction. Russell Brenner Partner, Stage Equity Partners

Russell Brenner, Partner, brings over nineteen years of commercial real estate experience to Stage, with a background in office and retail investment, leasing and finance. At Stage, Russell is responsible for all aspects of new business development, including sourcing new investment opportunities and developing new capital relationships. Prior to joining Stage, Russell was a Senior Principal and member of the management committee at a Chicago-based, real estate private equity firm where he oversaw the investment sales team and led fundraising efforts for each of the firm’s investment platforms. While at the firm, Russell spurred the company’s acquisition of over $800 Million of commercial real estate assets around the country. Russell began his real estate career in 1996 as an office tenant representative broker at Goldie B. Wolfe & Co / Insignia ESG (now CBRE) which specialized in CBD and suburban office leasing for multi-national law firms and Fortune 100 Companies. Russell holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree with honors from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. Russell is active in an array of philanthropic organizations. Most notably, Russell is the immediate past Chairman, and currently sits on the Board of Directors, of the Inner-City Education Program, and is a Vice-Chairman of JUF’s Real Estate and Building Division Committee.

A lifelong ice hockey player, Russell, his wife and two young children live on Chicago’s North Side.

Todd M. Caruso Senior Managing Director, CBRE

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Todd M. Caruso is the Senior Managing Director leading CBRE’s Retail Owner/Agency Practice in the Americas. He is committed to providing retail portfolio ownership access to all of CBRE’s service lines focused on increasing value and meeting client needs. Having been exposed to many types of retail properties, Mr. Caruso works closely with service line leaders in Brokerage, Asset Services, Capital Markets and Valuation to create “go to” Integrated Retail Teams to address individual asset needs. Mr. Caruso’s previous experience includes Retail Sales and Leasing, managing two of the company’s Chicago offices and Midwest Regional Retail responsibilities. Rand Diamond Principal, GlenStar Properties, LLC

Rand Diamond is a Principal and founding member of GlenStar Properties, LLC. At GlenStar, Mr. Diamond heads the firm’s asset management company, is a member of the investment committee, and shares responsibility for new acquisitions, dispositions and project financing. Over the past 30 years, Rand has negotiated more than $2 billion in real estate transactions and secured in excess of $500 million in financing for new developments and renovations. Mr. Diamond is a graduate of the University of Illinois.

GlenStar is a Chicago-based commercial real estate investment and development firm engaged in new development as well as in property investment, leasing and management services. Over the past decade, GlenStar has acquired over 5 million square feet of office properties as well as developed office, retail, residential and medical building assets located throughout the Greater Metropolitan Chicago Area.

Lynn Dubajic Executive Director, Yorkville Economic Development Corporation

Ms. Dubajic is the Executive Director of the Yorkville Economic Development Corporation, with over 6 years experience in economic development. Her expertise includes business district development, marketing analysis, as well as strategic and community planning. Ms. Dubajic is also responsible for providing outreach to the existing businesses in the community to tend to their economic health, develop an adequate workforce, provide training options and assist with business expansion, redevelopment and retention in Yorkville.

With over 42,000 square miles in Yorkville’s planning area, the United City of Yorkville is experiencing substantial growth. The intersections of State Highways 34, 47, 71 and 126, plus access to I-88 to the north, I-80 to the south, and I-55 to the east, have made Yorkville, located on the beautiful Fox River, an ideal location for development. Norris R. Eber President, Abbell Associates

Norris Eber is the President of Abbell Associates and oversees all acquisitions and dispositions; asset management; investor relations; and strategic partnerships for Abbell. Prior to Abbell, Norris was EVP of Assets and Acquisitions at Joseph Freed & Associates. Before Joseph Freed Norris was SVP of Asset Management and Acquisitions for Tucker Properties. Mr. Eber serves on the International Council of Shopping Centers’ Open Air Center Committee, ICSC Education Advisory Committee and the ICSC Foundation as a member of the Board of Directors. He is a past ICSC Central Division VP, ICSC Trustee and State Director for Illinois.

Abbell Associates is a 70-year old private real estate acquisition, management and development company currently specializing in both enclosed and open-air retail and office projects. Based in the Midwest, Abbell Associates is focused on unlocking the hidden value in retail centers and office buildings through innovative leasing, management and re-development strategies with over 2.5 million square feet of ground up development as well as redevelopment of existing shopping centers has been successfully undertaken in recent years.

Peter Eisenberg Principal, Clark Street Real Estate

Peter Eisenberg is a Principal of Clark Street Real Estate. Clark Street acquires, develops, redevelops, leases, and owns commercial real estate in the United States and abroad. The company’s primary focus is the development and redevelopment of retail shopping centers and single tenant buildings. Clark Street also has significant experience in mixed-use, industrial, and land development.

In addition to his responsibilities at Clark Street, Mr. Eisenberg is actively involved in the International Council of Shopping Centers, serving on the ICSC Foundation Board of Directors and on the Illinois State Committee. He is a Co-Founder and an Emeritus Member of ICSC’s Next Generation National Advisory Group as well. Mr. Eisenberg passionately supports The Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation serving as President and a Founding Board Member. The Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation funds gastrointestinal cancer research at Northwestern University and provides scholarships, mentoring opportunities, and several real estate education related programs to undergraduate and graduate level students throughout the Midwest.

Mr. Eisenberg graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He also earned a Juris Doctorate degree as well as an LL.M. in Real Estate Law with honors from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago where he serves on the Advisory Board for the Center of Real Estate Law.

Michael FitzgeraldPrincipal, OKW Architects

Mr. Michael Fitzgerald is a Principal of Chicago-based OKW Architects, providing architectural, interior design, landscape architecture and land planning services for a broad range of clients and markets. As Director of Architecture, Mike leads the design efforts of the 45 person firm and is recognized for his ability to quickly develop thoughtful and creative design concepts. With over 25 years of experience, Mike is a leader and mentor within the OKW office, bringing a high-level of design commitment and quality in translating client objectives into successful, thoughtful solutions.

As a design partner, Mike has successfully led the design effort on projects ranging from mixed-use student apartment buildings at Illinois State University to the TD Ameritrade office in suburban Northbrook. He is an outstanding planner and strategic thinker who never loses sight of the details. This skill set combined with OKW’s collaborative approach allows Mike to serve large and small projects with equal attention, whether master planning a corporate campus or designing conference room millwork.

Mike’s passion for all things architecture spans outside the walls of OKW as he regularly provides engaging lectures on planning and architecture to communities and organizations throughout Chicagoland, and at his Alma Mater, the University of Notre Dame. Projects currently on his board include Clark Street Real Estate’s revitalization of Portage Park’s Six Corners, the restoration and renovation of Lake Forest’s historic Market Square, Oak Park and Westmoreland Country Clubs, and a pair of custom homes in Chicago’s North Shore.

Liz Holland Chief Executive Officer, Abbell Associates

Liz Holland is the Chief Executive Officer of Abbell Credit Corporation and Abbell Associates, a seventy-year old private real estate acquisition, development and management company with an approximately 3.5 million/sf portfolio, comprised of shopping center, office, and enclosed mall properties. Barry Millman was born and raised in Chicago. He received a BA in Public Administration from the University of Wisconsin and Masters in Health Care Administration and Law from Saint Louis University. He entered the practice of Hospital Administration and rose to COO of Saint Mary of Nazareth Health Center in Chicago, which included acting as the Real Estate Developer for a 473 Bed Hospital .

Ready for a new career he opened with his wife a high end retail boutique in Glencoe, Illinois in 1981 which grew to 7,000 sf. The store was quite successful and during that time he became friendly with many local Shopping Center developers. Upon the sale of the Business in 1991 he joined Craig Steven Development as a Leasing agent with responsibility for several properties on the North Shore.

Once the properties were fully leased he moved on to the Childs Realty Group in Arlington Heights as a Senior Broker for a large number of 3rd party managed and leased properties. In the year 2000 he and his partner, Stuart Lenhoff, purchased the company and became the principals of the newly named Horizon Realty Services.

He is now responsible indirectly and directly for the Leasing of 120 properties, multi and single tenant and the management of 1,300,000 sf of retail space in 29 properties.

He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and recognized in the community as a Leasing Specialist. He also the Chairman of the Speakers Program for the Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation and where he coordinates a group of 40 professionals who volunteer their time speaking to University Real Estate Programs thoughout the Midwest. He has lectured extensively at many local Universities. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation .

Randy Perryman has been focused on commercial real estate for more than 3 decades. He was a senior appraiser with several national firms including CBRE and Cushman & Wakefield where he specialized in the valuation of high-profile, institutional-quality real estate assets throughout the United States and was an adjunct faculty member at McHenry County College where he taught all required coursework for appraisal licensure/certification in the State of Illinois. Career Summary Mr. Ponticiello recently joined CBRE’s Corporate Capital Markets and Net Lease Property Group in the Americas as Managing Director. CBRE’s Corporate Capital Markets team provides advice, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and execution for alternative capital solutions for corporately owned and occupied real estate. CBRE’s Net Lease Property Group advises institutions, private equity firms, REITs, developers and investors in all facets of single-tenant net-leased properties. Based in Chicago, Mr. Ponticiello will become the group’s national practice leader.

Mr. Ponticiello has nearly 20 years of real estate transaction experience (last 14 years at Jones Lang LaSalle) serving corporations, institutional investors, financial institutions and developer clients and has sold in excess of $5 billion of real estate assets during his career. A significant component of Mr. Ponticiello’s transaction sales expertise stems from sale leaseback, build-to-suit developments, net lease investment sales, acquisitions and corporate surplus dispositions throughout the US and Mexico.

William A. Shiner graduated with a finance degree from the University of Illinois in 1977 and is a CPA. He received his J.D. from Kent College of Law in 1984.

The Shiner Group (formally Mid-Northern Equities, Ltd.) was founded in 1983 for the purpose of acquiring and developing real estate in the Midwest. Tony Timmerman Strategic Development Manager, Affordable Equity Partners, Inc.

Tony Timmerman, Strategic Development Manager for Affordable Equity Partners, Inc. Christian Williams is a partner in the National Retail Investment Group's Chicago team, focusing on retail investment sales. The team is recognized as CBRE's leading national retail investment team, representing a diverse set of clients ranging from REITs and pension fund advisors to private investors and developers. Since 2007, Mr. Williams and his team completed over 340 transactions valued in excess of $6.5 billion.

Mr. Williams joined the team in 2003 as a Senior Financial Analyst and was responsible for coordinating all financial due diligence and underwriting. His responsibilities included financial analysis, assisting in the due diligence and marketing process, and preparation of marketing materials. Mr. Williams led the financial underwriting in over 115 completed transactions with a total value of over $2 billion.

Mr. Williams' career with CBRE began in February 2002 as a financial analyst with the Financial Consulting Group. Focusing on institutional-grade retail, office, industrial and multi-family investment properties, he also supported Corporate Service professionals by recommending appropriate leasing strategies. Kevin J. Wolfberg Partner, Schain Banks

Kevin Wolfberg is a partner with Schain, Burney, Banks & Kenny, Ltd. where he practices in the areas of government relations, state and local taxation, land use, zoning, economic incentives and municipal law.

Mr. Wolfberg represents developers, land owners and Illinois municipalities in all aspects of land use, zoning and economic incentives. He also represents a wide range of corporate and individual clients on state and local tax matters including sales tax planning, audit assistance, identifying and securing sales tax overpayments and nexus and exposure studies.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Wolfberg served as a Multistate Tax Manager for a big four accounting firm and has been involved in state and local taxes since 1995. While in public accounting, he resolved clients’ tax controversies with various state, county and municipal governments and specialized in the real estate and construction industries.

Mr. Wolfberg co-authored the "Sales and Use Tax" Chapter in the 2004 Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education handbook on Illinois State and Local Taxation. As an Adjunct Professor at the John Marshall Law School, he teaches State and Local Taxation and is a frequent speaker on sales and use tax issues.
