The Healthy Kids Lunchroom During the 2018-2019 school year, Elmira City School District students will continue to receive breakfast and lunch meals at no charge. The district is participating in a program offered by the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program, which allows all children in low income communities to receive meals at no charge. Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) provides benefits to the entire district, K-12—Breakfast and Lunch at no charge! Please remember the one important step in the process. This step requires families in the school to return the Household Income Eligibility Form. The information collected from these forms is strictly confidential and is used to determine eligibility for various additional state and federal program benefits that your children may quali-fy for in the Elmira City School District. During the summer, the Family Income Inquiry Form is mailed to those families who do not qualify for Food Stamps, TANF, or FEPIR. If you did not receive a form, please visit the district website or contact the Food Service Manager, and one will be provided to you. Remember, the more information that is collected, the more your school benefits. Although complete breakfast and lunch meals are free (entrée, fruit, vegetable, milk), snacks and doubles are charged at full price. You are able to add money to your students accounts, if desired, by using Payschools or send-ing cash or check to the cafeteria.

Start your student off on the right foot each morning. Be sure to plan breakfast time in your routine. No time? We can help. Your child can eat breakfast at school in the cafeteria every day.

Research shows that students who start the day off with a nutritious breakfast do better in school. This important meal provides the nutrients and energy necessary for children to be able to concentrate in the classroom. Students who eat breakfast daily get better grades, pay more attention in class and exhibit better behavior than students who routinely skip breakfast.

Stop by your school cafeteria today and have a nutritious breakfast to start your day!
