Per Capita for the Year 2016
Per capita was approved at the stated meeting of the presbytery onSeptember 22nd. The total per member is $39.52, and it is brokendown as follows:
$29.68 to Heartland Presbytery
$2.72 to the Synod of MidAmerica
$7.12 to the General Assembly, PC (USA)

Mission Magnified A Mission Conference at Heartland CenterNovember 1921
Do you know mission leaders who are seeking community, inspiration andrenewal? Or a congregation that is seeking wisdom for mission direction andpartnership? This fall, World Mission is hosting "Mission Magnified," a missionleader conference right here in Kansas City, Missouri. Mission leaders fromaround the country will gather for worship and reflection, connection andcommunity, all while gaining practical tools for use in local, regional andinternational mission work. Conference registration is only $100, including meals!Speakers include Mark Adams, mission coworker on the US/Mexico border andRebecca Kirkpatrick, former mission coworker in Egypt and Associate Pastorfor Adult Education and Mission at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church. The firstday's activities will focus on shortterm mission trip planning a great resourcefor any group organizing mission events this year. Workshop Highlight:Creating a Compassion Fatigue and Resiliency PlanIn this interactive workshop,participants will understand the cause and effect of compassion fatigue. They will also learn 5strategies for combating compassion fatigue: Intentionality, selfregulation, selfvalidation,connection and selfcare. We will apply thesepersonally as well as create a plan to implement these strategies into our ministries. A PCUSApastor, chaplain and spiritual director, Rev. Anne Lange has worked with individuals, familiesand communities in grief, loss and
trauma. Anne is certified with the Association of Professional Chaplains and serves on theNational Commission for Board Certification. Anne is board secretary of the Presbytery PastoralCare Network. This workshop is presented by the PPCN.

Join Presbyterian Peace Fellowship and thousands of teachers, farmers,students, unionists, queer folk, environmentalists as we converge at thegates of the School of the Americas (SOA) where we continue to reaffirm lifeand our creativity in the face of Empire. SOA is a US Army training school thattrains soldiers and police from Latin American countries. This training is fundedby US taxpayers and falls under the jurisdiction of the Department of Defense.The annual Vigil commemorates all victims of ongoing SOA violence in theAmericas and calls for the closure of the school as well as a change of USforeign policy towards Latin America. Today, SOA Watch is a large, diverse,grassroots movement, rooted in solidarity with the people of Latin America.

Vanderbilt New Testament Scholar, AmyJill Levine will speak at Secondon Saturday, October 24th. Levine's research has focused onunderstanding Jesus in his Jewish context, and she is the author ofseveral popular books, including The Misunderstood Jew: The Churchand the Scandal of the Jewish Jesus and her most recent book, ShortStories by Jesus: Parables of a Controversial Rabbi. Levine will beleading a series of discussions in Kansas City that week coordinated bythe Interfaith Religious Literacy Center. Levine's talk at Second will bepreceded by a luncheon starting at noon.
