In light of the first confirmed case in South Africa yesterday of
the Novel Coronavirus known as COVID-19 or 2019-nCov, we
emailed Coronavirus information received from ISASA
(Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa) as well
as our expectations with respect to this virus.
This information is particularly relevant for families travelling
overseas during the April school holidays or who are expecting
visitors from any of the affected areas, both at home and
abroad.
In short:
Avoid travel to affected areas (these include but are not
limited to China, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, Iran,
Thailand and Italy). A list of countries affected can be found
at this link: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
#countries
Visit your medical practitioner should you experience
respiratory symptoms within 14 days of travelling to
affected areas.
Maintain good personal hygiene by washing your hands
regularly with soap or an alcohol-based hand sanitiser.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
In order to protect the whole Dainfern College community, our
expectation is that you will take responsible precautions should
you travel to any affected areas or have contact with anyone
who has travelled from these areas. If you do have any
concerns about potential contacts, please consult a doctor and
do not send your child to school.
Further detail about our expectation was included in the mail
sent to our community yesterday.
Please contact the school should you have any concerns.
