HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY
A MONTH OF MEMORIES & CELEBRATIONS The month of celebrations begins on May 5th with the Memories of Cinco de Mayo. Join us for this traditional celebration beginning with Happy Hour where you will be served a variety of margaritas, Mexican style beers & horchatas served with chips, salsa and guacamole followed by Chef Salvador’s Mexican Combo Dinner Plates complete with a traditional flan or la leche cake. Following dinner, join us for an evening of Folklorico Dance, Mexican coffee and conchas (Mexican sweet breads). May 6th brings The Kentucky Derby. This residents sponsored annual event brings back many Memories Remembered for our community. Please join us in the Theater adorned in your Kentucky Derby attire complete with hat. Place your bets and sit back and relax as you sip on mint julips and enjoy our traditional derby snacks. Pasadena Highlands has special gift opportunities awaiting our mothers in preparation for Mother’s Day. On May 7th, Treasured Memories, your lifetime stories on DVDs, for your children, grandchildren, and their children to experience for evermore. Mothers! RELAX
on Friday, May 12th at the Care More sponsored SPA DAY. Enjoy a complementary hand and foot spa massage treatment. On Sunday, May 14th, let the beauty of Mothers, roses and butterflies welcome you to our Mother’s Day Celebration. Relax as you sip on rose petal cocktails and champagne surrounded by the smooth jazz sounds of the Donavan Muradian Trio. Experience the delight of Chef Salvador’s delectable Mother’s Day Cuisine and designer desserts. Memorial Day, Monday, May 29th begins on the Patio with our traditional Flag Ceremony in tribute to our fallen soldiers. Spend an afternoon of reflection and Memories Remembered of those who have served our country while you enjoy our annual chicken and ribs bar-b-que complete with strawberry shortcake. JPL Lecture Series Thursday, May 4th at 6:30 PMGoing out in a Blaze of Glory: Cassini Science Highlights & Grand Finale. The Cassini mission’s fi ndings have revolutionized our understanding of Saturn, its complex rings, the amazing assortment of moons and the planet’s dynamic magnetic environment. Icy jets shoot from the tiny moon Enceladus; Titan’s hydrocarbon lakes and seas are dominated by liquid ethane and methane, and complex pre-biotic chemicals form in the atmosphere and rain to the surface. What new puzzles will Cassini solve before it plunges into Saturn’s atmosphere rather than risk crashing into one of Saturn’s ocean worlds and contaminating it?
Come and hear the story of recent science discoveries and the upcoming excitement during Cassini’s fi nal orbits. Dr. Linda Spilker, Cassini Project Scientist, will present highlights of Cassini’s ambitious inquiry at Saturn and an overview of science observations in the fi nal orbits. Dr. Earl Maize, Cassini Program Manager, will discuss Cassini’s exciting challenges, ultimately fl ying through a region where no spacecraft has ever fl own before. Cost: Free
CalTech Dinner & Tour Wednesday, May 10th at 5:00 PMJoin resident and CalTech professor Peter Mason for a dinner tour & lecture. We will enjoy dinner with the professor and his wife Doreen at The Athenaeum followed by a tour and then a lecture 8:00 pm with professor of History, Nicholas Wey-Gomez entitled What Columbus Discovered. He will show how the navigators discoveries revolutionized old ideas about the globe, and how science, faith, and politics shaped the momentous encounter between Europe and the Americas.Cost: $25.00 + $$$ for Dinner
