The 5 Commandmentth
Part 4 Exodus 20:12
...so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. But here a long lifein that good land is promised particularly to obedient children. Those that do their duty to theirparents are most likely to have the comfort of that which their parents gather for them and leave tothem; Those that support their parents shall find that God, will support them. This promise isexpounded in the NT (Eph 6:3), That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on theearth.
It all first starts with parents doing the right thing - being good parents. Paul writes to the youngTimothy and says about the Church, “...children or grandchildren, these should learn first ofall to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying theirparents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God. Filial respect is the ground of nationalpermanence. The divine words were addressed emphatically to Israel, but they set forth auniversal principle of national life.

Stewardship Corner
Stewardship is the unconditional giving of one’s time, talents andtithes. Our church cannot do God’s work without all threecoming from each and every one of our participants. With thisthought in mind, it is imperative that we give thought and prayerto this undertaking. Giving is always a joy and without it, God’swork goes unfulfilled. Please give thought and prayer to thismost important need of the Church.

LORD’S DINER
Did you know that Hillside Christian Church has an outreach
ministry of providing volunteers to help serve a meal at the Lord’s Diner
on the third Monday of every month? Responding to Christ’s call to
feed the hungry, the Lord’s Diner provides a meal seven days a week,
365 days a year. The mission of the diner is achieved in a spirit of
compassion and respect through cooperative efforts with people of all
faiths, businesses and organizations in the community by gifts of time,
talent and treasure. All that is required to help is to have a food
handler’s permit which can be obtained by attending a free two hour
class at the health department. It is not necessary to volunteer every
month. If you are interested or would like more information, call Linda
Hannon at 686-8308. We would love to have you join us!
Christian Social Action Committee
Thank you so much for our generous gift to Lexington
Theological Seminary. Your gift will assist the Seminary in

a blessing for a congregation and ministry to enjoy and experience such
a relationship. Sincerely, Sonny Wray, VP for Advancement

ADOLLABLE Doll Club of Kansas
ADOLLABLE Doll Club of Kansas, a group of twelve, gave generously
of their time and talent to needy children over the holiday season. The
club’s service project was to dress and donate dolls for those families
who might not have the means to put packages under their trees. Two
of the dolls went to Hillside Christian Church and seven others were
placed in outstretched hands through the Valley Center Kansas School
District. All told, nine dolls were distributed, a formidable
accomplishment for such a small membership, and this dynamic dozen
plan to do it again next year. Linda Hickman

and the Transition Committee invite you to Fellowship Hall to view the SPECIAL MINISTRY BOOTHS set up to explain how we areTRANSITIONING our “WORKS OF SERVICE” into our EIGHT NEW MINISTRIES, beginning January 1, 2012.
Come and see first hand what the Mission and Responsibilities are of each of these special ministries.
God wants us to give something back and it is called our ministry.
May the Holy Spirit guide each of us as we choose a ministry in which to serve.
Thank you to Mark Walker, members of the Chancel Choir, Musicians, Audio Techs, Youth & Children, Nursery Workers, and allthose wonderful volunteers that participated in making the Palm Sunday Cantata on Sunday, April 17 such a wonderful service! We areth
truly blessed here at Hillside to have such a dedicated group of musicians and so many wonderful members who volunteer to help outwhen needed! The cantata was fabulous, and it was a great way to enter in to Holy Week!
