SCHEDULES CLERGY SACRAMENTS
The Holy Spirit and the Birth of the Church
The fiftieth day after Easter is Pentecost Sunday. On this day the fullness of the Godhead is
revealed in the person of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit descended to the Virgin Mary and the Apostles. This is now the beginning of the evangelical ministry of the Apostles to proclaim the good news of salvation to the whole world. We also see in this feast the reality of God’s love
for us. Even though Jesus went back to the Father, the Holy Spirit now manifests His
guidance and love towards the Church.
We remember today, the birthday of the Church. When the Apostles gathered as a community
of believers and gathered to break bread; which is a liturgical action that shows what a Church is, that is the worship of God. The Church and the Holy Spirit will always be the foundation of our identity as Catholics. Through the power of the Holy Spirit the Church will continue to ex-ist and no evil will overcome it. Jesus made this promise to Peter so the gates of hell will not
prevail against the Church. .
