cation and asked that we keep PP Charles Delphenis in our prayers. Happier news was that Bob Womack was back with us today. Cindy Cummings led the Pledge of Allegi-ance and the “Star Spangled Banner.”

Kendra Yanchak, assisted by Ariane Urschler with the mike, introduced our visit-ing Rotarians and guests. Chris Short an-nounced The Hub and web advertisers of the week. He reported that he had received quite a few checks for advertising on The Hub for the year, but said that a web advertiser was needed for August and future months. Sergeant-at-Arms Susan Rogers repor-ted on some of the projects of our own RCPC Foundation, and that we have $1,250,000 in the account. President Cleve presented

at Rathbunʼs Blue Plate Kitchen; dinner is $35 per person and $7.00 of that will be donated to the North Texas Food Bank. President Cleve said there will be a RILI (Rotary International Leadership Institute) reunion on Aug. 17; de-

tails are on the District 5810 website.Roger Diebel introduced our

speaker today, Lt. Gen. Leroy Sisco (ret.) who spoke on the NRA and the

the right of citizens to own guns kept Japan from invading the West Coast during World War II. He then switched to speaking about the Military Warriors Support Foundation, and remarked how lucky he is because of what he gets to do. He said the program started as a way to take a bunch of heroes for a weekend away and has grown into awarding scholar-ships, giving families homes, and helping them get jobs. He said he met with an associ-ation of owners of apartment buildings, who have donated an apartment in every complex they owned, which will be one thousand apart-ments for wounded veterans to use for a year or two. They have also spoken with large banks, and they were willing to donate homes to be used for wounded vets. So far, they have given fifty homes away at ball games and several more on TV and at events. Many celebrities have held fundraisers for the pro-gram. The banks give the homes, then they invest $30,000 in each home to renovate and paint them, so the family only needs to pay the utilities. The program monitors the family for three years to be sure that they manage their debts so they keep the home. He said they are also expanding the program to in-clude homes for Gold Star Families. He said that Chase Bank, Bank of America and Wells Fargo have contributed many homes, but that anyone who donates $20,000 will be able to choose the home and be present to help give it away. He said that veterans or their families can apply online; then they are thoroughly checked out. If they qualify, they can choose the zipcode they would like their house in.

(ʻAnthony Galoʼ cont.) beginning my college journey in about a week. I will be packing up and driving to San Marcos this Sunday, the Dallas Inde-pendent School District has asked me to speak at their invocation on Monday, which is just a huge honor for me. DISD is flying me in on Monday and I will head back to San Marcos on Tuesday. The speech will be at Skyline High School on Tuesday morning in front of an audi-ence of about 2500, but there will be a live stream to all the schools in the district making it a total audience of about 20,000 DISD employ-ees! I am ecstatic about this speech, but I couldn't have gotten this done without all the practice and support I received as Interact Club President, so once again, thank you!

I look forward to working with Madam President Shelby Snyder on Interact's Annual Toy Drive event this year!

Wish you all the best!!Best Regards, Anthony Steve Galo, Texas State University
