2018 Annual Meeting The annual meeting of Greentrees owners was held on Saturday August 4th. There were approximately 225 owners in attendance. Following reports from the Treasurer, Manager and Greentrees committees and clubs, there was a hearing of the members. The main topic people wanted to speak about was speed bumps - both for and against.

Following the meeting, the Association hosted a lunch-eon for the members in attendance. Homeowners Tom Benson, Fred Miller and Anderson Miller were the peo-ple primarily responsible for planning, cooking and serving the hot lunch, although many other hands as-sisted. By all accounts, it was a lovely lunch and a fes-tive occasion.

The Computer Club by Steve Lyon

How often do you think about security when you use your computer/tablet/smartphone? We had a well-attended meeting August 1st where Steve Lyon went over some of the many traps we can fall into. For ex-ample, don’t share on Facebook or other shared info sites that you are on vacation on certain dates, it tells thieves you might not be home. Or don’t use the same password across multiple sites/apps. Lots of questions and answers were discussed.

Our meeting schedule for the coming months is:

September 5th: Steve Lyon – Can you cut or stop using cable for TV?

September 12th: Gene/Rich sharing their Apple knowl-edge and other wisdom

September 19th: Jep’s monthly review of Windows’ sys-tems and security.

September 26th: TBD

All meetings run from 11:10 to 12:10 and take place in the Multi-Purpose Room. We still need a club Treas-urer. See Steve Lyon if you are interested.

Have you viewed the two blogs associated with the Computer Club? Go to the Greentrees website, then Amenities, then Computer Club.

Sign Up For E-bulletins

Greentrees Webmaster Mardi Wetmore is going to start sending out an e-bulletin each Sunday to members who have signed up on the website. It will remind residents about the following week’s Greentrees activities. If you subscribe to the bulletin, she will let you know via email when there are maintenance issues that may effect you and other issues of interest, such as a mountain lion being seen in the area.

And don’t forget the Greentrees Village Wellness Check Program. Have a ‘buddy’ check in with you on a regular basis to make sure you are ok. Gain some peace of mind and help your neighbors at the same time. If you want to be part of this program, send an email to [email protected] or call Mardi at 1-707-481-8107. Let us know if you have a preferred buddy or would like one assigned.

Volunteer Needed For Pill Bottle Recycling Greentrees is looking for someone to take over the recy-cling of pill bottles. David and Kerstin Johnson have been handling the recycling for many years, but are no longer able. Our residents bring in hundreds of pill bot-tles every month. They must be sorted, and the ones that are recyclable are taken to Eugene and dropped off. If you think you could help out with this important pro-ject, please contact the GTV office at 541-997-8674.

Family Pool Closes The Greentrees Family pool will be open for Labor Day on September 3rd, but will close for the season the fol-lowing day. The Family pool is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day each year. Children under 18 years of age are permitted in the Family pool but are not allowed in the Adult pool, which is open year-round.
