Physics Department, Profession Teacher Education of SM-3T, State University of Makassar (Supervised by Drs. Abdul Haris, M.Si. and Dra. Sitti Norma) This research is an action research aimed at increasing: (1) Physics learning activity of the students of X MIA 1 SMA Negeri 9 Makassar in academic year2014/2015 through the implementation of problem based learning, (2) the Physics learning result of the students of X MIA 1 SMA Negeri 9 Makassar in academic year 2014/2015 through problem based learning. The subject of this research was 13 out of 35 students of X MIA 1 of SMA Negeri 9 Makassar on odd semester of academic year 2014/2015.The technique of collecting data was done by observing the activity and the Physics learning result which was done on cycle 1 and cycle 2, with the instrument was in the form of observation sheet of learning activity and test question of learning result in essay form. The technique of data analysis used descriptive analysis technique of quantitative which showed the percentage of physics learning activity, the mean score of learning result, and the category of the passing grade of learning Physics. vi
