The journey behind A Child Of Mine

www.achildofmine.co.uk

in September 2007, our SonLewis was born ahealthy baby boy

reaching all of his milestones

and making happy memories

Lewis was a happy baby

but in June 2008, our lives changed forever

when Lewis was diagnosed with cancer

Neuroblastoma is an aggressive childhood cancer

affecting only 100 children per year

the prognosis was Poor

Lewis started months of intensive chemotherapy

and a 5 hour operation to remove his primary tumour

spending his 1st birthday in hospital

and his 2nd

but hospital wasnt all that bad, we did have some fun!

high dose chemotherapy followed

and this made Lewis so poorly we almost lost him

but he made it through

and life started to get back to normal

we laughed

Lewis looked well and he enjoyed an audience

he also loved his big Sister, Georgia

and Lewis loved to dance...badly!

and sing!!!

we had lots of fun

sadly, in June 2009, Lewis relapsed

there is no cure for relapsed Neuroblastoma

we didnt give up and went to London for radiation therapy

but the treatment was unsuccessful and we were told Lewis would not survive

he deteriorated and steroids bloated him

and on 3rd July 2010Lewis passed away

Lewis was our inspiration, our strength and our life

he taught us a lot in a very short time

and wewanted to give something back, as a legacy for Lewis

we wanted to help others who had walked our path

help those who had also lost a child

and we would do it for Lewis!
