The Editorial Council of The Journal ofProsthetic Dentistry announces the seventhannual Judson C. Hickey Scientific WritingAward. This award honors Dr. Hickey’s dis-tinguished career as Editor of The Journal ofProsthetic Dentistry and his contributionsto dental education, research, and adminis-tration.

THE JUDSON C. HICKEY SCIENTIFIC WRITING AWARD

The annual award of $5000 is divided into 3 categories: Research/Clinical Sciencesarticle, $2500; Clinical Report, $1500; Technical article, $1000. In each category, theaward will be granted to the primary author of the most outstanding article published inthe JPD between January 1 and December 31, 2001.

Criteria and Regulations

Published articles in each category will be judged on the basis of their impact onthe practice of prosthodontic and restorative dentistry. The selection committee willcomprise the Chairperson and members of the Editorial Council Awards and GrantsCommittee.

Articles under consideration may not be related to material that was submitted in ful-fillment of any advanced academic degree (MS, PhD, etc), required for any advancededucation program or specialty board examination, or part of any government or pri-vately funded project.

The winners will be notified by February 15, 2002. Each recipient will receive a checkand a plaque that, if the recipient so chooses, will be presented at a meeting of one ofThe Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry’s sponsoring organizations.

The Editor and members of the Editorial Council are not eligible for the award.
