JAMUKA sure brought in the people on 3rd July

and what a fabulous night of wonderful music it

was once again at the Kendall Community Hall.

The guest artists were brilliant and so were all the

walk up artists. We got quite a surprise when a

young chap from Bonny Hills got up and started

playing the piano. Kieran Rogers is only 15 years

old, but he wrapped the audience around his fin-

gers easily. Kieren said: ‗I wasn‘t going to come

and play – my Dad made me come!‘ . But then,

when the night was finished, he got back up on

stage and really let loose – fantastic! What a great

thing it is that we can have people come and

share their music and other people come and wit-

ness and listen and so much appreciate, whatever

may happen on the night – and yes – we were

    nice and snug and warm!

So, this month, on Friday 7th August, the main

guest artists will be the singing group WEDNES-

DAY. Wednesday are a small ‗a Capella‘ group,

formed over 5 years ago, with a view to provid-

ing experienced singers with challenging music to

sing. Their musical Director is Elly Franchimont. A

large amount of their repertoire is arranged by Ra-

chel Hore or Steven Taberner, both well known ar-

rangers in the Australian Music Scene. Wednesday

sing many styles of music and have great fun pre-

senting to an audience a song which has been a

    challenge to learn.

As always, you are very welcome to bring your

instrument along and share a couple of your songs,

or just come and listen to all the beautiful music.

    Doors open at 6.30 pm

for 7 pm start. Entry is

    by donation. And – yes

    – the hall will be fully

    air conditioned.

    Next month, on Friday

    4th September, we wel-

    come KEVIN ATKINS

    as our main guest art-

    ist. Kevin plays the pi-

    ano. He is from Lake

    Cathie and regularly

    plays his fabulous pi-

    Sydney Conservatorium Ensemble

    By Alvena Ferguson

Classical music lovers will be delighted that one of

Professor Goetz Richter's students is a member of the

Sydney Conservatorium Ensemble coming to play at

Kendall on Sunday 9 August. Accompanied by David

Miller AM, violinist Li Gu will be joined by flautist

Laura Chung, Brett Gomez (guitar), tenor Ryan Patric

    O‘Donnell and cellist George Yang.

George was chosen as Principal cellist of the Conser-

vatorium Symphony Orchestra in the beginning of

2014 and led many programs including ―A celebration

of Peter Sculthorpe's life‖ concert filmed by ABC in-

cluding playing solo cello alongside the famous

    Didgeridoo player William Barton.

Aside from playing classical music, Brett Gomez en-

joys playing flamenco guitar and tries to incorporate

elements of the style into his music whenever possible.

Ryan Patrick O‘Donnell spent his teenage years as a

theatrical actor, where he discovered his love of sing-

ing while performing in high school musicals. After

working in film, television and video production, he

made the decision to pursue classical singing and is

now working towards a professional career in opera

    and art song.

Laura Chung is currently undertaking a combined

Music and Medicine degree at the University of Syd-

ney, studying with Emma Scholl, Associate Principal

Flute of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

These musicians are clever and talented young people,

chosen especially by tour leader David Miller for their

    CWA Kendall July Meeting

    By Gael Mackenzie

Guest speakers John Laurie and Dean Magennis

from Mid North Coast Command, Licensing Police

had us all enthralled and horrified as we learned

about the high incidence of alcohol related anti-social

behaviour, crime and violence. Their job, seen as the

"anti-fun" police, has broad applications. They not

only check up on licensed premised (clubs, pubs,

nightclubs and events) to make sure regulations are

adhered to, they also try to keep under-age drinkers

on their radar at all times. A tough job when often it

is parents who are supplying kids with

booze. Heartening news that policies and laws are

gradually changing and licensed outlets are coming

on board to help them in their important work of

keeping everyone in the community safe.

Camden Haven School to School shared pathway

representatives spoke to us about what they are hop-

ing to achieve with safe paths for children to walk to

    school.

Kath was able to show us the wonderful posters

from the International and Ag/Environment Officers

being sent to Group for judging.

Good news that our charitable donations both inter-

national and national were larger this year and with

little discussion the various recipients were decided

on. Well done ladies on all the fund raising!

We are always interested in seeing new faces at our

meetings, so if you are local and want to meet some

new people, or if you are a visitor and want to see

what CWA is about, we welcome you to our meet-

ings, no obligation to join: 3rd Tuesday each month

    Chocolate Mousse-Cake Dessert

    From Jodie

I have always had a soft spot for Chocolate and here

is the latest little creation on Albert St. This is a very

easy recipe that looks really yummy. To start off

find some lovely glassware and layer with a base of

mousse then add some fresh or left over chocolate

cake pieces. Add a drizzle of melted chocolate. To

finish off dust with some desiccated coconut and a

sprig of mint. Most of this recipe can be done from

the packet bought from the store. However the

Mousse is the pièce de rèsistance particularly when

    the following recipe is followed…

    Ingredients

1 block of Green n Black Organic Chocolate

3 medium to large sized eggs

Melt the chocolate (careful not to burn) in a sauce-

pan over really low heat or inside another pot of

boiling hot water. At the same time separate

eggwhites and whisk until it forms peaks. Place egg

    yolks into melt-

    ing chocolate and

    fold together.

    Then add the

    chocolate to eggs

    whites and wisk

    until completely

    blended. Pour

    into glasses and

    place in fridge for

    a few hours. Enjoy!!

More than forty Op-Shop volunteers enjoyed a mid-

the opportunity to put forward ideas and keep up to

    date with the

well as meeting up with other volunteers. As always

the barbeque, in the hands of our very competent

    Australian Open Trophies to visit

Kendall for the Opening of New

    Courts

Many members of the community have been very

busy working on the new Tennis club located be-

hind the swimming pool in Kendall. What an out-

standing job everyone has done in getting these

courts up in what seems like record time. Well

done to the many Kendall Community members!

Now it is almost time to get ready and celebrate the

opening of the courts which coincides with the

arrival of the Australian Open Trophies from Mel-

bourne Park. Keep the 22nd of August open to

come on down and check it out.

The following is Kendall Tennis Clubs Media

    Release...

It‘s been a 10 year battle for more courts in Kendall

with the first lot of funding allocated in 2005. With

a growing membership of over 300 for just 3 courts

the club is excited to now have 6 courts in total. It

wont all be smooth running as the new courts are

at a new location in Orara Street behind the Kend-

all pool with the committee having to manage two

centres to cater for everyone. An amenities/

clubrooms are next to be built at the new site to

commence in September. Kendall have been top of

Tennis Australia‘s Australian Open Blitz competi-

tion for two years running taking out the competi-

tion this year with their player Novak Djok-

ovic. Part of the win is the Australian Open Tro-

phies to visit Kendall on Saturday 22nd August for

the opening of the new courts. ― This is an exciting

time not only for the club but for the Kendall com-

munity. The club has raised over $200,000 itself to-

wards the project with other project partners con-

tributing including the NSW Government, Port

Macquarie Hasting Council, Tennis Australia and

Multisport Concepts. We are holding a fun day for

everyone with the Official Opening at 12pm. We

have local dignitaries as well as those travelling

from Sydney and Melbourne for the Opening . The

event is open to everyone, and it‘s a great opportu-

nity to check out the new courts which are blue just

like the Australian Open surface and have your

photo taken with the trophies. ― said club president

Wendy Hudson. The trophies will visit local schools

Camden Haven High and Kendall Public on Friday

21st August. The event is open from 11am through

to 3pm with lots of fun activities , food stalls and ex-

event and makes for a great day out with the

family. The drive through Taree/Wingham is

the usual way, but if you really want to absorb

the country scenery then drive up via Com-

boyne. Killabakh is just another 35 mins along

Comboyne rd. Perhaps stop for a coffee at

Ruby‘s in Comboyne on your way and check out

the goodies at the information centre.

    Camden Haven Pony Club

    By Karen Madden

Camden Haven Pony club Camp held from the

5th to the 9th of July was a huge success with

thirty two kids attending coming from as far as

Sydney in the south and Dorrigo in the North.

The variety of horse disciplines was fantastic, and

the instructors from around the Mid North Coast

were so enthusiastic with the kids, western pleas-

ure, hacking, dressage, show jumping, campdraft-

ing, and the bare back polo cross was very enter-

taining just to name a few. The organised night

time entertainment of red faces and disco were

also a big hit with the kids.

Congratulations to Lacey Fitzgerald on being

awarded the instructors award for camp.Lacey

was recommended by all instructors on her par-

ticipation and enthusiasm in all groups. Troop

drill was once again a very competitive conclu-

sion to camp with an outstanding win by the

troop led by Sara Lucas and Olivia Telfer.

A special thankyou to Jamie Baker who travels

from Sydney to spend the week organising and

assisting with making sure the days activities run

smoothly and of course being camp Dad. A huge

thankyou to the hard working organisers, cooks ,

cleaners, ring assistants etc. we really appreciate

you giving up your time to allow our riders to en-

    joy a week of camp.

follow. Shania Madden, Jazmin Madden, Olivia

busy day last Sunday the 26th and all the busy

parents who volunteered for the working bee, the

    pc shed sparkles.
