Maple is an extremely hard wood with a fine even texture. Its natural colors range from creamy white to light blonde to dark reddish brown, so it is possible to have color variation within a single door. Darker stains will reduce these variations. Maple may contain some wavy, curly, bird’s eye or burl graining, as well as mineral streaks and worm tracking across the grain. These characteristics are a natural part of the wood and not considered defects.

Cherry is a close-grained, multi-colored hardwood with occasional pin knots and sapwood holes, curls and waves. Cherry’s natural color ranges from pale yellow sapwood to deep reddish brown heartwood, with shades of white, green, pink or gray. These color variations occur between cabinets and even within the same door.

Getting the most out of your Shenandoah Cabinetry.You’ve made a wonderful investment in real wood cabinetry — an investment that will continue to delight you with its natural beauty over the years. Knowing what to expect is key to its appreciation.

No two pieces of wood are exactly alike – even from the same tree. The differences in natural color and grain mean that each piece will respond differently to the finishing process. It also explains why there are variations between cabinets and within a single door or drawer front.

Over time, all wood species will exhibit color changes to some degree. Exposure to sunlight, smoke and chemicals may cause some materials to fade or vary from their original color over time. This is why cabinets or accessories added at a later date may not exactly match cabinets installed now.

Caring for your cabinetryWith proper care, your cabinetry will age beautifully for years to come. All it takes is a little common sense. Clean spills immediately with a clean cloth and mild soap, if necessary. Wipe dry with a soft cloth. Do not use bleach, detergents, citrus- or ammonia-based cleaners, steel wool, soap pads or other abrasives. Dust occasionally with a soft, lint-free cloth.

The manufacturer of Shenandoah Cabinetry® hereby warrants to the original purchaser, for residential applications only, that all Shenandoah Cabinetry, cabinets and accessories, are free from defects in materials and workmanship. This warranty runs for as long as you own your home and begins upon the date of delivery to you. This warranty is expressly limited to repair or replacement of the defective part at the discretion of the manufacturer of Shenandoah Cabinetry, and does not include labor for removal or replacement. This warranty does not extend to defects caused by improper handling, storage, installation, assembly or disassembly, intentional damage, product modifications, exposure to the elements including humidity which may result in warping or splitting, accidental misuse, abuse or negligence.

Natural woods may vary in texture, color and wood grain, and exhibit subtle changes as they age. For example, wood joints may eventually have visible cracking around the joint area and cabinet colors may darken or lighten over time. Sunlight, smoke, moisture, household cleaners and other environmental conditions may cause materials to vary from their original color and/or to warp, split or crack. These variations are considered to be the nature of the mate-rial in relation to its environmental exposure and are not covered under this warranty.

ADDITIONAL LIMITATIONS AND DISCLAIMERS

THE MANUFACTURER OF SHENANDOAH CABINETRY MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTIES OTHER THAN THOSE SET FORTH HEREIN AND ALL OTHER WARRANTIES ARE HEREBY DISCLAIMED. To achieve this end, the company has implemented a Corporate Environmentally Responsible Stewardship Program that proactively identifies potential environmental risks and monitors compliance with appropriate federal, state, local and internal standards.

The company has received certification by the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA) Environmental Stewardship Program on all products. The certification was awarded based on compliance across a broad range of activity, including air quality, product resource management, process resource management, environmental stewardship and community relations.

The company works with all suppliers to encourage sustainable forestry practices. Wood doors, drawer fronts and cabinet front frames are made from North American–grown hardwoods. Particle board and plywood are purchased from suppliers that meet the Composite Panel Association requirements for Environmentally Preferable Products, including formaldehyde emissions that comply with ANSI Standards.

The company uses leading-edge technologies to limit both hazardous and non-hazardous emissions, byproducts and waste. On-going formal programs identify opportunities for recycling and reusing materials. When waste ultimately requires disposal, steps are taken to minimize the environmental impact.
