- The Kulliyyah of Pharmacy was established in 2002,with a vision of restoring the dynamic and progressiverole of the muslim ummah in the field ofpharmaceutical sciences.

- Our Bachelor in Pharmacy (Honours) programme isaccredited by the Malaysian Qualification Agency(MQA), Ministry of Education Malaysia and PharmacyBoard Malaysia, Ministry of Health and it is carefullydesigned to meet the vision and mission of theuniversity to be in line with the National EducationPhilosophy.

- They will have opportunities to work in public andprivate practice within hospitals and communitysettings, in the pharmaceutical industry andgovernment sector, research and academia.

- We have a total of about 40 Academics Staff, 50administrative staff to take care of about 120 students enrolled each year.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

A pass in the I I U M Matriculation Centre’s final examination with C G PA of not less than 3.5 and fulfilling all other requirements for

promotion to the first year of a degree program at IIUM;

OR

Obtain 2A (Biology and Chemistry) and 1B (Physics or Mathematics) for G C E

‘A’ Level

OR

Any other qualifications from institutions recognized by I I U M

Course Details

Curriculum StructuresThe core courses are compulsory for all students in the Pharmacy Program. Students are required to

register and pass all of these courses. Students who fail in any of these courses have to repeat the course. A total of 157 credit hours must be registered by the end of study period for the purpose of graduation. The

ROLES IN HEALTH OF THE COMMUNITY

pharmaceutical sciences such as in the hospitals, clinics,G raduated students shall pursue their dream career in the field of

communitypharmacies (either to venture their own business or to be an employee),research and development and others. The role of pharmacists in thecommunity is important in giving advice, counseling, patient education on theconsumption of drugs, and help in addressing the issue of misuse of drugs.

PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY

On industrialization, the government has agreed with the proposal by theMalaysian Industry Group for High Technology (‘MIGHT’) in identifying thepharmaceutical industry as one of the technology based industry, which thenation must venture into in order to achieve its target of becoming anindustrialized country.

Based on the above factors it is imperative that the nation needs to increasethe number of pharmacists in the country in order to offer more efficientpharmaceutical services both in the public and private sectors of Malaysiaand the Muslim countries.

This project involves the establishment of a small scale pharmaceutical plant in the Kulliyyah that will be engaged in both teaching and manufacturing of some generic drugs.
