This is my fourth book on AR15s. This one came about in
about the same way as the others: I felt there was a
strong need for clarity, clarification, insight – solid, proven
advice. This one is well different from my previous books
on the AR15. Those mostly focused on “precision” target
rifles, custom-done guns. This one is for all the rest of us!
Which means it’s the AR15 book for the MOST of us!
There has been such an exponential increase in the pop-
ularity and the diversity of this firearms platform, and
along with that, a whopping lot of questions. There’s also
a whopping lot of information “out there” – and a whop-
ping lot of misinformation! This book puts it all
in place, puts it all together. My goal is for you to
get the most from this amazing gun, no matter
what it is for you, and it can truly be just about
anything. I absolutely loved doing this project!

This book was 45 years in the making! That’s when I got my
first AR15… I’ve seen “all this” all the way through. My life
with AR15s has run from blasting tin cans to top-level com-
petitive shooting, all using this platform: always learning how
to make it work best in every venue. It’s Mr. Potatohead! It
can be anything you want it to be. This book shares my takes
on how it might best be for different wants, needs,
and uses. It’s the best book I’ve yet written! I
think… It’s certainly the most “personal.”
The book starts off where I started off: with a fas-
cination for “America’s Gun.” All about the history

country, including two “original” builds (these were
my favorite). But “history” only gives us a place to
