From thechoreographer’s experience, it was clear that people from ruralareas in Ireland “dig” contemporary dance. As a contemporarydance artist, Fiona feels it is her duty to encourage more expo-sure of contemporary dance and to allow people to experienceit in a relaxed and welcoming environment. The choreographyto be presented is a “work in progress” and inspired by move-ment investigation and development, and an exploration of emo-tional expression with a deep rooted sense of consideration for theaudience. The performance will include two dancers; Martin Hughesand Fiona Keenan O’Brien. No booking necessary.

''DDRRAAWWIINNGG SSEERRIIEESS ##22''Mon 1st Sept – Fri 24th Oct 2014 Drawing Series #2 - Original pencil drawings created by visual artist Pa-tricia Gurgel-Segrillo. A native of Brazil, but now based in Cork City, Patri-cia's interests lie in figurative explorations on cross-cultural identity, womanhood, empowerment and femininity. The 'impossible beauty'which dominates the hearts and minds of our consumer society is chal-lenged in a whimsical, elfish, puckish way. The bizarre and the idiosyn-cratic, the beautiful and harmonious are present in every day life - Patriciastrives to uncover them in an attempt to provoke, disturb, inspire andprompt reflection on our common humanity. Furthermore, Drawings Se-ries #2 has been influenced by the afro-Brazilian orixas. They are deitiesor divinities and are such a great part of Brazilian culture, specifically ofRio de Janeiro, where the artist grew up. Her representations portray themas ancient (or maybe futuristic?) heroes and sages, inhabitants of theurban landscapes, full of magic as well as power and a profound sense ofself-worth, of dignity.
